From miner's dirt to designer's treat in perfect location

This is a very cool designer hotel. It is a completely renovated inner-city block which was probably occupied by coal miners' families just a few years ago. There is a "miners' world of old Katowice" theme going on throughout the hotel (all professionally and elegantly done in B&W or sepia pictures) if you are interested in how the region looked like during communism. The rooms are big and with designer furniture. High speed Internet is provided free in all rooms if you have your own lap top. It's definately a hotel where you walk into the room and do not feel like "I've been here before". Underground is a shopping center and the pool (sorry haven't seen or tried). Breakfast is a very big buffet nicely arranged.
Another fantastic point is the location. It is just a few meters from Dworcowa and the main square.
Unfortunatelly I still have to find an agent to offer the rooms for lower than quoted in the hotel. So far I always booked directly with the hotel with regular rates

We just returned home from a trip to Poland. While in Katowice we stayed at the Hotel Monopol for 4 nights. What a fantastic experience! From the moment we stepped thru the front doors and onto the floating glass floors of the lobby, we knew we were in for a treat. The entire hotel has been redone to reflect the industrial surroundings of the area with 5 star flair. the dining room is superbly done with sloping ceilings made entirely of solid glass and steel beams. very modern and minimalist. We stayed in a corner room (#202), and if we ever go back, we will definitely stay there again. the bathroom had 'Heated' black granite floors (with a special knob for you to control how hot you want it), Marble in the shower, and slate on the walls. the bedroom was 2-3 times the size of a normal hotel room in the USA, with a balcony, 2 leather reading chairs, and an animal skin throw rug on top of the wood floors of the bedroom area. To say it is luxurious is an understatement!!! well worth it if you have a chance to see it and stay there.
