We stayed in this hotel from July 11-July 14th. The location is amazing. Just two minutes from Piazza San Marco and smack bang in the middle of the San Marco district but you would never know it. It was so peaceful, once you closed the door we heard absolutely nothing apart from the occasional early morning "traffic" on the canal behind. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating - which is more that can be said for some of the people we encountered in other restaurants and bars during our stay ( I got the feeling that some of them were more than a little tourist weary - but then whos surprised with over 12 million a year!) They found out that it was my birthday during our stay and delivered a beautiful gateau to our room with a small card. A lovely touch.
Our room was on the small size (we stayed in a standard double) but it was beautifully kept looked out over the canal to the rear of the hotel.
We would definately go back.

I stayed at this hotel in August 2007. This hotel is a beautiful quiet gem right around the corner from St Marks Square. Upon arrival in our room we found a welcoming letter greeting my travel buddy and I as Mr & Mrs. That was amusing considering we are both female, and no, we're not those kind of friends :)
The hotel staff were courteous. The bartender served us a complimentary drink in the evening. The courtyard downstairs goes out into a small canal, and it was lovely to sit there and watch gondolas float past.
Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable with air conditioning, a balcony overlooking the water, and all facilities in good condition.
Dona Palace is a great place to retreat to after wandering around Venice all day; it’s so peaceful you’d never know there is a busy St Marks Square just a few meters away. Couldn’t find a fault with it - aside from our relationship status getting lost in translation, but that was a good laugh! I highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed here in May for 6 days. Excellent location, just off St. Mark yet within short walking distance from the "non touristic" areas of Venice. Room and bathroon were big for average Venetian rooms. Breakfast OK, it's a continental breakfast extended with scrambled eggs. I do agree with other comments advising some variety, every day was exacly the same. Staff was very friendly both reception and breakfast. They helped us book some concert tickets and we also made use of their taxi boat service to the airport for ? 80,- very convenient. Our overall experience was above our expectations.

Stayed at the end of February 2008. Location was fantastic, only about 3min walk from St.Mark's Square.
Hotel staff very friendly and efficient. Room large as was bathroom and very clean.
Stayed on bed and breakfast with a typical buffet style breakfast which was fine.
Brandy and coffee in the bar before bedtime was a treat in lovely surroundings.
We booked a private water taxi from the airport which took us directly to the hotel jetty - fantastic way to arrive. (100euros)
On the way back to the airport we booked a water taxi through the hotel. Surprisingly this was only 80 euros, 20euros less than the one we booked from the airport.
Hotel does not have a resturant but they do give you discount vouchers at 2 nearby resturants. This didn't bother us though as we like to find our own way.
Venice was fantastic and we will no doubt return at some point where we will definatelky book again at the Dona Palace.

We stayed in Room 51 at the Dona Palace for two nights on our honeymoon. The room is at the top and can be reached by private lift from the 4th floor (or stairs). It has a private rooftop terrace with a full size jacuzzi tub. The room itself was extremely unique and large, with a modern bathroom. The decor was nothing terribly special, but who cares when you have a private rooftop terrace with jacuzzi?
The location of the hotel is exceptional, and perhaps because we were on a top floor, we didn't notice any noise issues at all.
What really made our stay special was the staff. Our luggage was lost enroute from Heathrow, and they were very diligent in checking on status for us. When we asked to have the jacuzzi tub filled and heated for use, they were very prompt. They arranged a gondola ride and dinner for us, and also, an extremely timely transfer to the cruise ship terminal. Everything ran like clockwork. My husband is diabetic and had neglected to collect his insulin from the minifridge when we checked out, but the staff found it and returned it to us before we left -- thank Goodness for that!! The breakfast may have been the same items every day, but, there were a number of choices so no need to get bored with it.
