Friendly staff but depressing room
Guest name: Anonymous
Stayed for five nights at San Giorgio. All members of the staff was very friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet was nice as well, but the room could use some improvement. Very boring with a tv just under the roof (which actually didn't matter since only italian channels available...). Also lots of air-condition-like noise which I tried to outdo by opening the windows, but also lots of noise from the street.
The hotel itself could be wonderful if something was done to the rooms. The helpful staff make up to some of it, but I don't think I would stay again.
has potential, but not yet there

For a two-star, the hotel is actually quite nice -- it offers clean, small rooms, with simple amenities and a modest, tasty breakfast. I was initially impressed.
However, the details leave something to be desired: on my recent stay, my first room's external doorknob broke off as I entered. No big deal, these things happen. The night receptionist couldn't fix it, so he moved me across the hall to a new room -- and that room's internal doorknob broke off as I closed it. I managed to make it work anyway, and went to sleep. The next day, when I tried to shower, the drain turned out to be completely blocked and the water ran over the low lip of the shower stall and flooded the bathroom. The receptionist moves me back to the first room.
The computers (which they provide for internet access) didn't work in *either* room, and the lobby computer worked one day and not the next.
No one on staff knew what was wrong or how to fix them.
Bottom line: if they can sort out these sorts of details, I would highly recommend the hotel; until then, I would avoid it.
Great surprise in Bologna

My husband and I recently visited Bologna for a short side trip and arrived without hotel reservations. We ended up at the San Georgio hotel, which although listed as "2-star" was a great hotel! The room was large and spotlessly clean, the furniture and linens looked and felt brand new and we had a great view of the two towers. To boot ,they had a great selection of breakfast items and internet access, and were centrally located a 10-minute walk from the main piazza and the train station. Would definitely recommend for your trip to Bologna!
