Relais La Suvera is not to be missed if you are visiting Tuscany. It has a charm, history and quiet elegance all it's own. You will be awed by the magnificent rooms, enchanting grounds and unparalled service. You may find yourself in the most charming castle exploring the exquisite rooms, meandering through the intimate gardens with small nooks for quiet moments, a private dinner or simply reflecting on the beauty around you. On the grounds you will find a pristine chapel where my husband and I were married in 2003 and recently we returned to celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary with our 2 year old twins. The staff was more than happy to accommodate our every wish regarding our stay and our children. We were well remembered and made to feel quite "at home." You may find the "principessa" who still lives in the castle, having dinner with friends or sitting by the pool chatting with a friend, she will greet you with a warm smile. Also, you will find newly refurbished rooms in the stables, tastefully done each with their own unique quality, with balconies or small gardens. My husband and I are so impressed with the beauty of this magnificent jewel in the hills of Tuscany. You will feel you are in nothing less than pure luxury and you may feel as if you are the ONLY guests as you are greeted by name at the pool, at dinner or walking through the lemon trees. Relais La Suvera is in a class all it's own and should well be considered if you are looking for personal service at it's highest level, exquisite accomodations, simple quiet elegance and an experience you will not soon forget! We booked this hotel as the final of an amazing honeymoon to Rome, Sorrento and Tuscany. The last two night was spent at Relais la Suvera and we just love the place!
From the minute we arrived, it was perfect. They parked the car for us, carried up the luggage, and the service and staff was just amazing through our two nights stay.
We are young and not "high end" visitors, dressing quite casual was never a problem and we didn't once feel out of place- the staff was very welcoming.
Our room, although on the small side if we are to be picky (no problem to us anyway), was very nice. It has it's own terrace, and a bottle of true champagne along with fresh fruits awaited us. We had dinner in the main restaurant both evenings. Although quite formal and pricy (yet intimate and friendly as well!), it would have been worth more- the food was cooked to perfection. And when we got back- the staff had dimmed the lights and put towels on the floor for our feet, and removed the bedcovers, and a little chocolate was put on our night tables. We knew we would return here by then.
Not to forget the museum, the buildings, the lovely gardens surrounding the place, the sweet cats, the included aperitif in the bar, the drinks that were made to perfection, charming chess table, great coffee, wonderful swimming pool with a nice temperature and looking lovely by night- the indoor jacuzzi in the old cisterne- everything included and we felt well cared for all the time. We had to leave too early for the breakfast, but hey, they made us a lovely breakfast to enjoy on the way- there are no problems on La Suvera, they solve everything with ease.. We'll be back!

We loved La Suvera. Our room was amazing, the grounds are exquisite, the food is great--it's all good. The best mojitos we've ever had--since he picks the mint from the garden and they are not too sweet. The buffet lunch is also excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The pool is lovely and relaxing, the people were so kind and helpful--I have only good things to say. Strongly recommended. We went to Arnolfo for dinner one evening and what an amazing event that was also.

The hotel, surroundings and location are second to none.
We had the Fox Suite, which was an unbelievable room, with the largest and most comfortable bed I have ever slept in and full of antiques. Waking up to the most incredible view over the Tuscan countryside was nothing less than spectacular and you really would never tire of it.
The smell of lavender which was present throughout the hotel serves as a great reminder of our wonderful stay.
The hotel staff were excellent, very courteous and the Bar de Limoni staff were extremely attentive and made our stay very special. Particularly Andrea who made special sauces for us on several occassions at the table and recommended some beautiful local wines. Cleo the cat who came to see us every night in the bar was lovely too. The food in the bar was some of the best I have ever tasted, and the crepe suzette, made at the table were sooo tasty.
The spa and particularly the jacuzzi in the old cistern was very impressive and relaxing as were the grounds generally which were immaculately maintained.
While the food in the main restaurant was very nice, I found it a bit over the top and preferred the less formal bar area for nights in at the hotel.
The pool and surroundings are lovely and by night look quite spectacular with the stone head running water into the pool. Very romantic.
The hotel is quite far from anything, but having spent a week there I quite frankly can't think of anywhere better to be than in and around the hotel itself. This really is a superb Tuscan retreat that you would probably rather use than travel to local villages.
All in all, Relais la Suvera lived up to it's reputation and exceeded our expectations.
Can't wait for a return trip!

The hotel is a stunning property steeped in history and with fantastic service. Great pool area, lovely grounds and an excellent restaurant.
I would not recommend a standard room as are fairly small, but we had a junior suite which was a good size and had a lovely balcony. The rooms are individually designed, with a historic feel to them, but the bathrooms could be better as are old fashioned.
The immediate area around the hotel itself isn't particularly stunning, compared to other parts of Tuscany, but it is very convienient for San Gimignano and the main road to Siena.
Overall, had an excellent time in a luxurious property which easily warrants five stars, just prefer other parts of Tuscany.
