Constructed in 1959, the hotel takes its name from a cave inhabited by a Monk Seal, christened �Bue marino� (Sea Ox) by the local fishermen.
The hotel reopened in July 2004 after a complete refurbishment that showcases its modern spatial layout and the restyling of its architectural features, dedicated to maximum comfort and relaxation.
The two Jr Suites and many of the 31 rooms look onto the sea. All are equipped with air conditioning, mini-bar, satellite TV, safe deposit box, phone and some even have shower or hydromassage tub.
The scenic lift leads up to the terrace restaurant from where you can enjoy an unparalleled view of the entire gulf. The specialities among the regional and national dishes served here are fish and local desserts, all accompanied by an excellent range of wines. Here on the terrace you will also find the scenic cocktail bar, leading on the solarium fitted with hydromassage tub.

We stayed at the Hotel Bue Marino from 9 July - 15 July 2008. All the staff we met during our stay were professional, courteous and did that bit extra to make our stay so enjoyable. Also the maid service (room cleaning) was excellent. The location was exactly as stated, next to the marina and beach. Breakfast, usual continetial fare, was fresh and plentiful. Dinner offered a varied choice and good quality. Just two tiny flaws one in the hotel - low water pressure in the shower. Outside the hotel - The Cala Gonone beach is mostly very very small but sharp stones with a few pebbles. The only "real" sand is underwater.

what a brilliant location this hotel has. our balcony overlooked the harbour in this lovely sleepy place of cala gonone. we hired a car from airport and the drive down to cala gonone could not have been easier, the roads are very very good, signs are good and traffic is very light. all the staff were very helpful in hotel though it took a few days to get a smile out of waitress at breakfast. dining room has fantastic views and all surrounding resturants are good. not many english people staying there though this to us was a bonus as you got the feel of the place. mainly italians on holiday and everyone friendly.if you turn right when leaving the hotel and walk to end of beach you will see lots of blue deck chairs and these are free and very comfortable. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and plan to go back at some time in the future.

Myself and my girlfriend have just returned from Sardinia and stayed at the Bue Marino for a night. The hotel was great and room was relatively simple/basic but clean. One of the features must be the location. There seems to be some great hotels in Cala Gonone but the Bue Marino certainly has the location too. The cocktail bar (on the terrace across the road) is excellent and nothing better than having a beer and watching what is going on at the port. The only downside to the whole experience for us was the restaurant. The evening meal was average at best and the breakfast equally mediocre. There are however lots of lovely places to eat in Cala Gonone so this should certainly not turn anyone off this hotel.

Hemos cenado en dos ocasiones en el restaurante del hotel. Las vistas son una pasada, se ve todo el puerto y se domina todo el golfo de Orosei. La jefa de sala sabe castellano y el servicio es amable. Respecto a la comida, todo lo que comimos estaba excelente y tenían recetas bastante imaginativas. Buena relación calidad-precio.
