My wife and I loved the Corona D'Oro! We stayed at the Corona for 6 nights in late March in Suite 204. The suite was large and luxurious with a living room area, 2 flat screen televisions, a very comfortable bed and an excellent bathroom. Definitely had an "old world luxury" feel to it. The hotel is located on a quaint side street and we found the hotel to be completely quiet. We could walk everywhere from the hotel in about 10 minutes, with a 3 minute walk to the central square. The front desk people were happy to help with restaurant reservations and other guidance. The lobby was very comfortable -- bright and cheery. Loved the free internet access. The hotel also arranged for us to park our rental car a few blocks away, and it was relatively simply to get in and out of Bologna for day trips to Parma, Modena and Ferrara. We would definitely stay here again.

We just returned from three nights at the Hotel Corona d'Oro in Bologna, and I can't say enough good things. The hotel was lovely, the room was spacious and attractive, and every room has internet access. The breakfast was great. The staff was terrific, especially Omaro. We came with our toddler, and everyone was as kind as they could be to him. They went out of their way to accomodate us. We will stay here again when we come back to Bologna.

My new husband and I were supposed to spend 5 nights at this hotel beginning July 8, 2007. The hotel stay was a gift from my father-in-law. He pre-paid for our room over 3 months ago.
6 weeks prior to my wedding, I injured my knee in an auto accident in Chicago, IL. My doctors would not allow me to travel outside the US. I immediately contacted the hotel by phone, fax, and email. I sent numerous letters of cancelation asking for a refund of our stay. The hotel policy, according to thier own website is fully refundable with my advance notice. I was told, on 3 different occasions, I would get a full refund. The amount I am still trying to get is Euro 1,200.
I've been sent emails and letters from management of the hotel saying my reservation was 'deleted.'
When I call, they tell me it's not thier problem. The bank should give us the money back. They always have a different story on the phone or by mail.
We've been trying now over 2 months. We decided to hire an attorney to get our refund.
The hotel staff is dishonest and the management are frauds.
I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone.
They will take advantage of a tourist, or anyone outside of Italy.
Look what they're doing to us.
The hotel Art is well known and my father-in-law felt comfortable purchasing our room as a honeymoon gift.
We never dreamed I would be injurered, let along the events to follow. I can't put in words how rude the staff has been on the phone. Not to mention what this hotel has done to our family.
We don't have Euro 1.200 to lose.
It was sad enough to have to cancel our honeymoon to Italy. Now, we're basically having our money stolen. They won't refund it. I think it's the same as stealing.
Giving this hotel one star is even to many but it was my only 'worst' option.
A sad US customer

We booked the Corona d'Oro at the last minute by phone & for whatever reason our stay on a Friday night in June was heavily discounted versus the rates that appeared in the guidebooks - late June may be low season in Bolonga, the Corona d'Oro may cater to business travelers so Friday is not their big night, or we may have just gotten lucky (other hotels were also offering discounts as well). The room was lovely and well-appointed. The design of the hotel is updated old-world luxury as opposed to sleek & minimalist -- which is sometimes implied by the term "boutique hotel". We felt like we hit the jack-pot in terms of what we paid versus the quality of the hotel. The location could not be more central - the highlights of Bologna are all within a few blocks. The breakfast spread is quite impressive - although we were the only people there! Again, I think a result of hitting Bologna in the low season).
