We stayed in this hotel for one night with our 11 month old and some friends as a stopover after catching the ferry back from Corsica. It was in a convenient location next to the motorway, although of course this also meant there was a fair amount of traffic noise. Even more noise however came from the MacDonalds right next door to the hotel - and it must be the busiest MacDonalds on the planet! We had requested a cot for our room, but on arrival the hotel told us they only have one cot which was already in use. Eventually they did find us a rickety old cot to use, but having arrived quite late we didn't need this hassle. Our room was on the small side, but nicely done out and clean. Breakfast was a bit disappointing with a very limited selection and not the usual high standard of coffee we've come to expect in Italy!

I would advise this hotel only for people who are driving to Lucca and are staying for maybe one day or so. It’s on the main road outside of Lucca and is about a 15 minute walk to the walls of Lucca. It was actually the nicest and most modern of Italian Adventures ’08 hotels with a gorgeous bathroom. However it overlooks a McDonald’s drive through, so don’t expect great views. Continental breakfast was fine. Staff helpful enough. In summary, easy for driving in and out of Lucca, the motorway is just around the corner. Not the best for being near the tip-top Lucca action. PS. No nightlife in Lucca, be prepared to be tucked up in bed by ~10pm.

Highly recommended. We chose this hotel for easy parking and autostrada access. Excellent value, spotless rooms, effective and quiet aircon, friendly staff. Meals very acceptable although set menu is the same each night. Downside: about 15 mins easy level walk from Lucca centre. Don't even think of taking the car. If you're a light sleeper, ask for a room away from Macdonalds drivein beside the hotel. Hotel hard to find as council will not allow bigger signs. It's almost on the slip road off autostrada, which runs into Viale Europa. Just past Macdonalds at 150 metres from slip road turn right into V. Formecetto (hotel sign on left of road), continue to T-junction at end, turn right into one-way street (V. Concordia), bear right and hotel is on right after some 200 metres. For city centre, walk along Formecetto but turn left instead of right. About 700m to subway which emerges beside gateway into the city walls. Excellent supermarket at end of Formecetto for something for lunch, we found fast-food in both Lucca and Florence centres was horrendously priced and unpleasant.

There is a handy supermarket within walking distance, the rooms were clean and the hotel is modern a bit too modern though as there is no lock on the bathroom doors! the breakfast was quite acceptable also.
