We've stayed for one week in hotel La Baggia in Alcamo Beach.
We were really pleased with this hotel. It's direct on the beach,
which is cleaned every morning. There are sunbeds with
umbrella. Has a small swimmingpool with few sunbeds again.
The reception very helpful (everybody)
Cleaning is done well. There is buffet breakfast. (Only they could
change the menu sometimes), but it isn't a problem really, you al-
ways can find something to eat. They also give different fruits.
The surround of the hotel is very queit, so you can sleep.
Scoppola is not far from Alcamo beach, which is worth to visit
(bout 15 minutes drive)
We spend a great week in this hotel.

Stayed here for three nights We chose it because of its proximity to the airport (30 mins drive) as our flight arrived late in the evening. The approach is less than imposing across a railway line ,down a narrow alley and across a large seafront carpark however once you get to the hotel its fine.
The bedroom furnishings were good although I would agree with previous reviewer about the smallness of the bathroom shower. The shower cubicle had Ferrari printed on it and was about the size of the cockpit of the racing car of the same name.
The swimming pool is on the small side but adequate with good poolside furniture
The restaurant is well appointed & the breakfast buffet is excellent .Our party of 4 had mixed views about dinner it rather depended on what they ordered the fish dishes were certainly much better than the meat.
Finally on a positive note the beach bar next to the hotel, and in the same ownership serves the biggest drink measures I've come across .

Very nice 2 weeks in La Battigia

We stayed in La Battigia hotel during our 2 weeks holidays in Sicily, the hotel is located in Alcamo marina, less than an hour by car from Trapani airport.
We had a bit of a shock when we arrived at the hotel and found 23,568 teenagers (with a motorbike each) gathered around the main entrance talking and having “gelatos”.
I almost fainted when I saw this, the idea of sleeping with earplugs during 2 weeks was not part of my plan for a "relaxing" holiday.
It turned out I had no reason to worry :)
THE ROOM:
La Battigia Hotel is a 2 storey building right on the beach, we had paid an extra for a room with seaview and were given a room in the 1st floor, which was spacious and modern, with new furniture and very clean, but the best part was the balcony and the view!
Because the room was at the end of the corridor we got a HUGE balcony, almost bigger than the room! the view was amazing, right below the balcony was the swimming pool of the hotel with a little gate leading to a long, sandy beach, a small area of this beach was reserved for the hotel guests with beds and umbrellas free of charge.
I still don't understand how this was possible but during the 2 weeks we spent there, every night there was music and the normal noise produced by this concentration of teenagers and their mopeds in the square right outside the hotel entrance, but the only sound I could hear in the room and in the balcony was the sound of the sea waves,... it was truly amazing to fall sleep listening to the smooth sound of the sea :)
THE BEACH
The beach was nice and couldn’t be handier to use from the hotel, however swimming was not always easy.
Some days there were jelly fish of huge proportions in the water, funny enough their huge size made them easy to spot so you could still swim, just needed to watch out! Other days there were a lot of rubbish in the water (not sure if this is related to the tide?)
BUT we also had days when the water was crystal clean and never too cold to swim, it was a bliss!
THE FOOD
We had dinner few nights in the hotel and the food was really good, one night the hotel organized a “Cabaret night” which consisted in dinner and a comedian show after dinner, there was a very generous buffet with starters and the main course was the typical Sicilian “cous cous with fish” both, starters and main course were truly delicious.
THE HOTEL STAFF
The hotel staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. Nancy from reception, was really helpful and always had a smile for us, the same with the guys at breakfast and in the restaurant, they seem to be very happy in their job, and I think that has an effect in the way they deal with customers.
There were little gestures that made our stay very pleasant, for example the night we arrived it was after 10 pm, and we were wondering where we could get some dinner, before we finished the sentence they were calling their restaurant (which kitchen was closing) and organized a couple of (by the way very tasty) steaks, salad and fries for us.
At the “cabaret night” the people at reception, and later on the hotel owner, apologized to us because the comedian show was in Italian, knowing that we were the only non-Italians there that night, they were concerned we would not understand anything.
Before we went on holidays I read a review in this site (posted in French) where they were complaining about the Battigia hotel not allowing them to use the bathroom and the hotel beach after checking out.
Our experience was the opposite, our flight was late at night so we stayed in the hotel the whole day after checking out, using the hotel beach and swimming pool, their beach beds and umbrella, and the bathroom as much as we needed.
LOCATION
Apart from the hotel, there's really nothing else in Alcamo marina, there’s a bar on the beach called Bluwater, where we had lunch quite often as they had good variety of food, including salads, paninis, pasta, etc.
This bar was also open at night and always very lively with very young crowd.
For going out at night, we only found another bar called "Il Solito Posto" in the main street within walking distance from the hotel, it's a nice bar with tables outside, nice atmosphere and older crowd (20’s to 40’s) there's also a restaurant called La Palmera, a very busy, kind of "casual" family restaurant, we had a nice pizza there one night.
We went several times for dinner to Castellammare del Golfo (5 minutes by car and with wider choice of restaurants and bars) and Scopello (10 minutes by car, lovely little village with a couple of restaurants and bars)
MOVING AROUND
I would recommend renting a car (or a moped) to move around (although we never checked out how good or bad the public transport is)
I read in another review posted here about the parking difficulties at La Battigia Hotel.
There’s plenty of parking space around the hotel, although it is always pretty busy, specially at night, we never had any problem parking our car, sometimes we used the tiny private hotel parking at the back where there’s space for 4-5 cars, but most of the times we parked on the street close to the entrance without difficulty.
I hope this helps and you enjoy your stay in this hotel as much as we did.

INADMISSIBLE!!!
. JE NE PENSAIS PAS QU UN MANAGER D HOTEL POUVAIT FAIRE PLEURER SES CLIENTS!
