Your typical Best Western hotel

This is a typical Best Western hotel: Nothing fancy, nothing out of the ordinary, just an okay place to stay if you don't want any fuss and doesn't care about luxury. I can't really say much about this hotel as I found it quite neutral. It was quite recently renovated and the rooms were okay, the staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast was typically Italian with lots of cake, but all in all it was fine. Again: nothing out of the ordinary.

This a Best Western affiliate.
We were part of a tour of Sicily and this was the hotel pre-selected for us. A good choice, for our brief stay this hotel was very comfortable, room excellent and breakfast very generous.
Recommended.
One Tiny, Slow Elevator

A modern looking hotel with tiny, tiny rooms and one very, very slow tiny elevator (imagine what it was like when our tour of 45 checked in). The room appeared clean until I looked under the bed and under and around the TV set and found a thick layer of dust (we were looking for my wife’s wedding ring which she had misplaced). The bathroom door squeaked loudly making it difficult for one of us not to be awakened at night (housekeeping should have reported this to maintenance – or maybe they did)! The breakfast was adequate but was served on the 5th floor. Waiting for the single, slow elevator was a disaster at breakfast time so we decided to walk up the one flight from our room. Most people found it necessary to do the same.

Walk - in price VERY high compared to pre-book price. Did throw in garage but we paid about 50% more than other reviews noted. Good quality, definitely non-Sicilian in character if that's what you want. Very good staff. Decent Western-style breakfast, but coffee definitely sub-par.
The reviewer that said to walk had a different experience. Ibla entrance exactly 3 km from hotel - on an adjoining hill. You must walk up/down/up - figure on minimum 30 minutes to base of Ibla then 20 more minutes chugging up hill to the duomo.

Good: clean, like most of the Italian hotels.
Didn't have problem with heating like another reviewer.
Bad: *foam mattress; tiny rooms.
**Really unfriendly front desk people, who barely answer the question to get rid of you.
***Hotel people calling our room at 6 a.m. to ask us where is our car key when in fact we deposited the key with them.
Note to those who drop by Ragusa to go to Duomo restaurant: it's good, but it's like any other 2 star restaurant. If you have plenty of stars where you live, you don't need to go out of your way to visit yet another one. The town is not worth it.
