I agree with all the previous reviews. What makes this hotel stand out is that the owners/family are always there, right on site; they are absolutely charming, extremely welcoming and helpful in every way, and really care about guests' opinions, suggestions and comfort. There's no bar and no lounges, but a lovely restaurant (serving some of the best food in the area) and terrace overlooking the lake. The rooms are spacious with modern bathrooms and the location is beautiful (note: near a busy road, but this did not bother us). Breakfasts are outstanding. We loved it.

My sister and I visited Lake Como in April and decided to stay in Hotel La Darsena, having read reviews on Trip Advisor. We were very impressed with the friendliness of the owner/managers, Ezio and Tiziano and Maria at reception. They were efficient, helpful, informative and hard-working every day and in the restaurant every evening. The food, both for breakfast and evening dinner was very good and was always served efficiently and with a smile. They made us feel welcome and ensured that we had a very enjoyable stay. We were quite sad leaving this little gem of a hotel, its lovely staff and the beautiful Lago di Como. We will be back hopefully before the year's end. We highly recommend the La Darsena and have very happy memories of our stay there.

We spent a wonderful three nights at Hotel La Darsena. We had the end room with two balconies, one with a table and two chairs and the other overlooking the lake. The room was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was also large, although there was only a tub with a hand-held shower - not what we're used to. We arrived after the kitchen had closed for lunch but the staff very kindly put together a cold plate of delicious meats and cheeses for us. Breakfast included cereals, meats and cheeses, yogurts, fruit, hard-boiled eggs, juices, pastries and pots of delicious coffee. The meal at the restaurant was one of the best we had during our trip. It was wonderful to wake up to the sound of the waves under our window. A couple of early mornings we were treated to the sight of a great blue heron at the side of the lake. The location is perfect - close to the ferry and within walking distance of Villa Carlotta - a beautiful palace with lovely gardens. In sum, a great place to stay!

The hotel is, to all intents and purposes , hovering over the lake, so when you step out onto your balcony you look down over water and across the lake taking in Bellagio and south. Wonderful. The room is very pleasant and the Restaurant, as previous commentators have mentioned, is excellent. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Book it.... pronto !
