My husband and I stayed at this hotel while I was in Italy on business. The rooms were older and not very updated, we had a nice view of Lake Maggiore from our room however the hotel was very noisy, you could hear everything the people in the next room were doing and also the street noise was terrible until 2-3am. I would not suggest staying at this hotel if you need a good nights rest or request a room without the lake view....

The Hotel Pallanza is a lovely friendly hotel right on Lago Maggiore. Our room was very large (1 double bed, 1 single and a sofa and plenty of space around it all) and had two lovely but small balconies overlooking the lake.
The town itself is interesting and has a good selection of bars and restaurants (and this was out of season!). Having then driven south around the lake I think it was the most inhabited and least touristy of all the places.
The hotel is just by the boat stop which is very convenient.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and they had lots of information on restaurants and boat timetables etc.

We stayed in this hotel for a weekend in August completely unplanned. August is peak season in Italy and they had a couple of rooms available at a great price for this time of year. Rooms are clean and simple, staff is friendly, location is perfect (20 meters from the ferry), airconditioned and quiet. We travelled with a 12 month old baby and the cot was setup within 10 minutes. If you want value for money on the lake, I don't think you could find better.

We loved our two day stay at the Pallanza Hotel. The staff was very helpfull and willing to get us anything we needed. The view of Lake Maggiore was beautiful from our balcony. If you are looking for good restaurant's, try Little Italy for great Italian food and Artis for great pizza.
We will stay here again.

Very enjoyable week at Hotel Pallanza

We have just returned from a one week stay at the Hotel Pallanza and it was a most enjoyable experience. We had a lake view room on the second floor which was spacious and had a balcony with an uninterupted view of Lake Maggiore and Isola Madre. The view alone was worth the Euro 160 per night! The staff were friendly and helpful. The room and common areas were clean and in reasonable decorative order. The buffet breakfast had a better selection of fare than many Italian hotels we had stayed at in the past. The only potential downside was the noise from the street outside at night which was audible in spite of the double glazing and shutters. A price one pays for a central location and the close proximity of restaurants and bars! Overall though we would not hesitate to recommend the Hotel, the staff and the beautiful location.
