We stayed here on our honeymoon, but moved to another hotel as soon as we could, as we really found it unpleasant.
The bedroom was absolutely tiny - barely room to open one suitcase, never mind two - and it was dark as it was on the first floor giving on to a patio.
We found the reception, bar and breakfast room staff to be.... not rude as such, but more apathetic and to a person they appeared to be very unhappy and unfriendly. This was not our experience of people in Santiago in general, so I would have to say it is the organisational culture of the hotel.
On the upside, the location is great - a short walk from Providencia, with lots of great restaurants and bars nearby.
As a glass-half-full person, most of my reviews and comments on this website are upbeat and positive, but our stay in this hotel was really unpleasant.

We stayed at the BW Los Espanoles on our arrival to Chile and booked them for a second stay for our departure and we really enjoyed the location and especially appreciated the helpful staff.
We scheduled airport transportation via email with the hotel and our driver was waiting for us upon arrival at 6:30am. We also scheduled transportation for our departure and the driver was at the hotel on time. This service was very reliable and very close in price to a taxi, we recommend it..
Since we arrived so early in the morning (7:00am) but after a long day/night of travel, the staff offered to store our bags and told us they could probably have a room cleaned and ready in about 1 hour so we went for a walk and when we returned, they had a room ready for us. The rooms are a bit small and unspectacular but met our needs and had all the amenities and all was in good working order.
The location is nice and it is a quick and beautiful stroll to access many restaurants, shopping, and the metro. We enjoyed walking along the greenway and river and felt safe, even late at night (even for us being two females).
The reception staff spoke English and were very helpful thoughout both of our stays and were able to provide information and directions for most anything we asked.
The restaurant had very good food and the lounge was relaxing (they make great pisco sours from scratch!). I highly recommend this hotel and will stay again on my next visit.

It's easy to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Santiago. It's ideally located in a quiet residential area, yet only a quick ten minute walk across the bridge to the subway, restaurants, and shops. The hotel itself is a former residence that is clean, comfortable, well maintained, and more importantly, has character. You have the feeling your visiting family rather than staying at another impersonal cookie-cutter, box hotel that unfortunately has become the norm. Moreover, we garnered a great rate for our stay which made it an excellent value as well.
We found the staff to be friendly, professional, courteous, and very helpful; they are also bilingual. They will gladly book tours for you, arrange airport transfers, and offer other helpful advice and recommendations. There are two computers located in a separate room near the lobby with free internet access and a printer. Complimentary breakfast is served buffet style in their dining area and consists of the usual fare of coffee/tea, juices, hash brown potatoes, scrambled eggs, cereals, fruits, pastries, cold cuts, cheeses, yogurt, and toast/rolls. The quality and presentation of the food was very good. Due to a late return one evening from a tour, we also enjoyed an excellent fish dinner in their restaurant that also had a very good selection of Chilean wines.
Our room was larger than your typical Eurpoean hotel room and included an in-room safe, television with a large selection of channels (including CNN & BBC), mini-bar, and good water pressure for the shower. Housekeeping was efficient and always completed in a timely manner.
I recommend this hotel without hesitation and would definitely stay at the Los Espanoles again for future travel to Santiago.

Terrific Place in a great location

This little gem was just as good, if not better, than we expected. It's in a great location in a quiet neighborhood of Santiago, with only a short walk across the bridge to lots of restaurants and action.
We stayed there for a few days prior to a cruise, and we were SO glad that we didn't end up staying at the Sheraton. Los Espanoles was friendly, homey, and had all the amenities we could want. (We felt safe and comfortable without having had to go to a megahotel with no local flavor.) We ate dinner there both nights in their small outdoor courtyard and had a fabulous chicken and fig dish for a reasonable price. The included breakfast was just fine, with a friendly and nice group of guests to share it with. Staff was very pleasant, with excellent English. We really enjoyed seeing Santiago, and found the people in general to be extremely friendly and helpful. This hotel is also a brief walk from the Metro station, which will take you all over the city. Our only (small) complaint about the hotel is that the free Internet access is so popular that it was sometimes hard to get a shot at one of the two computers, which were in great demand.
Well-maintained

This hotel was located about 5 minutes from the subway in a residential area. The staff was very accomodating, allowing us early and free access to our room when we arrived after an overnight bus ride from Pucon, Chile. They were helpful with directions and information about Santiago, The room was cozy, clean, and comfortable. The bathroom was large. My one complaint about the bathroom was that the shower "door" only extended half the length of the tub. While I've encountered this in my travels, I still haven't figured out how to keep the floor from getting wet! Breakfast was standard Western fare. Not great but good enough.
