Hotel is newly built, modern with relatively good size rooms and large bathrooms. Single occupancy in a "double" is a reasonable 99 euros/night. Location is within an industrial area south of Como - an area called Grandate. The location and hotel suit our purposes well as it was near where our business meetings were held. The wifi worked, but hotel charges extra...and you have to remember to ask for the "key" at the front desk when you check-in. I found the beds a bit hard, but my business colleagues thought they were too soft. So there ya go...to each his own. Besides the wifi connection, my only real complaint of the hotel was the food - it was terrible. We had breakfast as well as dinner at the hotel, and found both totally uneatable. A bit surprising given that this is Italy. Breakfast choices also were extremely limited. There is a modern food store nearby, so probably worthwhile to stock up on bread and cheese, etc - it'll be a lot better tasting and no doubt less expensive. Would probably stay again on business, but definitely not for a holiday.

Being modern is not enough ...

Guest type: Honeymoon
stayed in Mar 2008
We were two couples that stayed there for 3 nights.
The hotel was modern looking so were the rooms. The breakfast was ok not very rich but I have seen worse. The bad side of this hotel was their service and attitude. Ok, it is worldwide known that Italian people don't get a high grade when it comes to speaking English but when you work at a hotel you should be able to communicate fluently in English and not struggling to understand what the client says or make yourself understandable. One other thing, was the Internet. When you turn on the (all-in-one) TV set, at the Services section it said "Internet (5?)" (=7 USD)... Since no other detail was given, I believed it was for one night ... But it was not ... it was 5? per hour !!! as they explained to me at the reception next morning. I asked why wasn't it clear at the description saying e.g. "Internet (5?/hour)" but got no convincing answer ... just some weird English and a sorry at the end of the sentence. No leaflet was available in the room, explaining the available services (although a high-end TV set with many services that could be provided such as music, payTV etc) not even what someone should dial to call some other room or the restaurant etc. For any info, I had to call the reception with whom I had the level of communication I described before.
And the worst of all. It was our wedding anniversary and I got some pretty flowers the first day we arrived so that my wife could have them in the room for as long as we stayed at that hotel. As soon as the flowers arrived, we had to go for an excursion and I only asked a girl at the reception (which I had also asked the previous night) just to take care of the flowers (a vase with some water was all I asked). Although they reassured me that they would take care of it, when we returned at night, the flowers were there untouched and dead since at that hotel, whatever adjustments you made at the radiator and the temperature, when you remove the card and go away, it turns automatically to 22 Celsius (72 Fahrenheit) and the fan at high speed creating too dry condition even for humans ... at night, as I was approaching the reception to ask why etc, that girl (seeing me and knowing that she had not done her job well) left the reception. When I asked some other employee that I wanted to speak to her, they told me that she was not there. I told them that I saw her seconds ago and that she hid when she saw me ... they insisted ... she's not here ... I was very disappointed and had no time to argue with anyone of them. I just promised myself I wont go there again. For me, a good hotel is (above all) good service, kind people and good communication. Being modern is not enough ...
