We had 5 wonderful days at the Metropole hotel, and still remember the great service, great hospitality and the food ! The hotel is in a superb location. Overlooking the town, with its own bathing area. Rocks not beach, but set up with umbrellas and sun lounges.
The rooms are OK. A little small, but well maintained, good bath rooms.Great views.
The best feature of this hotel is the Dining room. We were booked on a Half board basis and each night enjoyed 5 courses of well cooked, good sized,Italian food.Served by a waiter who has worked at the hotel for 35 yrs.He made our stay ! Always encouraging us to try different courses, making us eat more than we needed, and with a sincere smile.
Santa Margherita is a beautiful place to explore the Italian riviera and Cinque terre.50 minutes by train to the 5 villages.
Stay at this hotel, you wont be disappointed.

After hot days in Milan and Florence, what a welcome respite the Italian Riviera was. And Hotel Metropole is beautifully located on the beach. It has a pool, kids beach and adult beach. The cool breezes and lovely scenery were a sight for sore eyes. Santa Margherita is a wonderful vacation spot. You won't want to leave. Hotel Metropole has outstanding customer service and gives guests a wonderful dining experience. Our rate included breakfast buffet and dinner. Breakfast was a nice spread. Dinner was a several course event. You get to know the dining staff very well. The room was typical and fairly quiet. We had a garden view.

We stumbled across this lovely hotel en route to Lucca - and found ourselves back in Santa a 2d time after having all our belongings stolen in Pisa. After dealing with the police, we drove back to the Metropole, arriving late, hungry, cold, tired and beaten. The staff had our room ready and provided us with everything we needed. Luigi (who must be an angel on Earth) brought us wine and pasta and a shoulder to cry on. We awoke the next morning to find that the staff had made emergency repairs on the broken rental car window (gratis). They gave us bus passes to town to buy supplies. They helped us make arrangements to replace our passports. If not for these kind and generous people, we probably would have packed up and gone back home. Instead, buoyed by the hospitality and genuine concern of the Metropole family, we continued our trip and had the time of our lives. We feel so blessed to have found the Metropole (and did I mention how beautiful the hotel is? and the food is WONDERFUL). God Bless them all!
