The staff here are absolutely fantastic and nothing is a problem for them - they go out of their way to help in any way possible and make you feel very welcome and can do fantastic aperitifs! The room were very large and had air conditioning as well as black out blinds - would definitely recommend. Fantastic breakfast with lots of fresh fruit as well as all other buffet breakfast items and fresh hot drinks. Internet facilities.

My wife and I spent 3 nights at the hotel Lis in Asti during late April 2007. We were both surprised and delighted. Location is tops, you can walk anywhere in that lovely little city in half an hour.
Our quiet room at the rear of the building had an anteroom, a walk-in wardrobe and a very nice bathroom. The only sour note was that the porcelain shower floor was EXTREMELY slippery. This seems to be a common problem in Italy. Everything worked just fine.
Parking was not a problem, we were given a garage at the rear of the hotel at no charge. The breakfasts were terrific by Italian hotel standards with plenty of fresh fruit and yoghurt. The Internet terminal in the generous lobby was 5.00 euros an hour.
Asti has a terrific array of restaurants and outstanding food and wines. It, along with the larger Alba are blessed with some wonderful wine producing areas like Canelli, Barbareso and Barolo. The receptionist at the Lis recommended 3-4 restaurants and we liked the one we finally chose so much that we had dinner there 2 nights out of the 3 and it was thronged with Astiani so they were obviously doing things the right way. We chose Barbera d'Asti for out meals and at 10-11 euros a bottle, it was both delicious and wonderful value for money.
We would love to go back to the Hotel Lis in future.

The hotel staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. The rooms were average in size for europe, but very clean and had a great view of the park. The staff really went above and beyond. From setting up reservations at some fantastic local restaurants, to speaking with the car rental company on our behalf, and even organizing a wine tasting for us last minute. The complimenary breakfast in the morning was also very nice. I will definitely stay here again when I visit Asti next.

A very average hotel
Guest name: AESCH, PARIS
I stayed in this hotel wich I found very average, certainly not a 3 stars ...
PROS:
- the guy at the front desk gave us an excellent address for a restaurant close-by although his directions were to say the least very approximative
CONS:
- the place needs urgent refurbishment and effective management
- the room was extremely small, noisy and not well kept
- the bathroom had not seen any serious renovation/amendment since its construction in the 70', on top of that it was freezing cold
- public parking in front of the hotel, first come, first serve .... not secured
- the buffet breakfast was ok in its minimalist style, certainly nothing to praise
OK FOR A BRIEF STOPOVER IF YOU ARRIVE LATE AND HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE, OTHERWISE FORGET
An excellent hotel -- would definitely stay here again

One of the great things about Asti is that there aren't a lot of tourists -- even in the high season. It's a beautiful little city and the surrounding countryside (which is easily accessible by local buses) is absolutely breathtaking.
That's why it's almost surprising that a place like Hotel Lis exists here. It's an excellent hotel with a spacious lobby (with plenty of seating), friendly staff, excellent breakfast and spacious rooms.
Our room was very comfortable. The air conditioning worked very well and our bathroom had a shower/tub combo -- something you don't get in most resonably priced hotels in Italy. The street noise was minimal.
The breakfast was excellent: cereals, fruit, bread, cheese, ham, pastries, juices. Delicious coffee was made to order.
The best part of the hotel is its location. It's about a 10-minute walk from the train station and it sits right on the top of a beautiful park. Some of the best people watching we've ever experienced. Kids riding the carousel, couples strolling by the fish pond, groups of older Italian men playing cards, etc. The park isn't even that big, but there was a lot going on.
Also, there's a farmer's marking on Wednesdays and Saturdays at the car park between the hotel and the train station. Everything from fresh fruits to pasta to clothing to lawn mowers! Great place to go.
Definitely stay here if you are lucky enough to visit Asti.
