My wife was booked into the Columbia by her employer, and I joined her for a long weekend. At first she was put in a very small dark room, but on request was changed to a bright medium sized double room at the front of the hotel. The decor and fittings are typically Italian - masses of gold leaf in the bathroom and around the mirrors, with an altar-piece painting above the bedhead. The breakfast, criticised by some, was fine, served in the restaurant with spectacular views at the top of the building. There were tour groups staying - at this time of the year, pensioners, who can be quite noisy, and the street outside can also be busy if you want an early night - but why stay in Italy then! All in all, I would say that this is an hotel rather out of the ordinary, and much better than some reviewers would have you believe.

Bella struttura, anche il centro benessere era bello e curato nei minimi particolari, l'unica cosa negativa è il cibo... sciapo e senza senso, porzioni misere e qualità bassa, scegliete solo colazione, della toscana non ho rispecchiato niente nel cibo. Alla domanda alla cameriera sul fatto che era tutto senza sale, la cameriera mi risponde che cucinano così perchè la maggior parte dei clienti sono anziani e hanno il colesterolo alle stelle.... e sti caz..... a parte scherzi, se avete anche voi di questi problemi o mangiate senza sale è ok, senno vi consiglio only bed. La stanza era ottima anche perchè era una suite, peccato per gli spifferi di notte, peccato che il condizionatore quando lo accendevo si spegneva dopo 2 minuti e peccato per il telecomando della tv al plasma da 30 pollici mai pervenuto... e quindi costretto a cambiare canale da vicino... poi tutto ok! E comunque organizzatevi con visite nelle città limitrofe in quanto a montecatini non c'è assolutamente niente, meglio fare una scappata a Firenze. A presto e buon viaggio.

I stayed 1 night in this hotel in May of this year. I found the staff to be very nice and had no problems communicating (even with only a small amount of Italian). The rooms seemed newly decorated and the hotel was well-maintained and clean. No problems with external or internal noise. The location was great for very easy access to the main square, spas and the train station. I would say that the breakfast was perhaps a little disappointing with not as much choice as elsewhere but it was perfectly alright and the view from the top floor restaurant to Montecatini Alto was lovely.

I am just back from a holiday in montecatini and we stayed in this badly decorated ,over crowded hotel.the reception staff were Ok BUT OVER OCCUPIED ALL THE TIME WITH GROUPS GOING AND COMING, only one slow small elevator, dark unattractive back lounge. the rooms were renovated recently as the hotel web site saying but it is so terribly done and dark, small free space to move around, bed is too big for the room size which make the room clustrophobic,, if you press the light button you do not know which light will come out , bath room was the worst part in the room, shower only, washing basin without soap holder, no place to put your personnel things like shampoo ,tooth bruches or even shaving machine. the roof resturant is nicely done, good view of the mountains, only to be spoiled by the bad ,cold food, and unexpierenced exhusted staff who can not speak any english,and always managed to give you the wrong food. the whole hotel is very poor although it is always fully booked with tours groups ,and I will never stay in it again.

Poche parole per spiegare il nostro soggiorno al Columbia Hotel. Io e mia moglie ci siamo tornati per la seconda volta. Tutto era perfetto e molto bello. Non comprendo la recensione precedente. L'albergo è ben ubicato, la camera era bellissima, il personale eccellente. Cucina tipica toscana al ristorante all'ultimo piano.
