This place was recommended to us by a friend and we were very impressed. While right next to the beach, we did not have a water view but that was fine. The rooms were very clean, well service and everything worked, including the air condidtioning. The rooms are small but doable. The owner is terrific and the assistant manager, Tonino is wonderful. Everyone was very accomodating to our needs. Breakfast was included and was excellent, including eggs, hard soft whatever you want, lovely pastries etc.

I am fortunate enought to be working in Southern Italy for about 7 months. I first came to Sorrento about 3 years ago and always love coming back. Now that I am in country for a while I try and make it there at least once a month for the weekend. I have stayed at a wide variety of places on various visits and this is the first hotel I have stayed at twice. Small clean rooms, reasonable rates, friendly staff, not too far out of the center of town yet not too close. If you come in by train and have very little luggage, the walk down to "Marina Grande" is not too bad. There is also the bus that goes there directly from the train station for 1 EURO. Taxis at the the train station will try and overcharge. Walk down and take a left at the main street. A few blocks down at the main square there will be taxis lined up and they will take up to 4 people to the hotel for 13 EUROS. The marina is a small fishing villge so there is a nice mix of locals and tourists. There is a nice bar on a pier and several good restaurants. From there you can go up a very long flight of steep stairs, wind through some back streets, presto, you are downtown. The trip down is much easier than the trip up. The hotel has a decent enough breakfast. Pretty average by Eurpean standards. The staff are very helpful if you need directions anywhere. The rooms are small but clean. The second time I stayed they bumped me up to a sea view room and even reduced the price I paid previously for a non-sea view room. Just an FYI, a non-sea view room is just that. My view was stairs and a back alley. I really didn't care though, as I just used it to sleep in.

Stayed at the Del Mare in June this year for about the 15th time. Each year the hotel improves. You just cannot fault anything. The staff are wonderful, location is excellent and the rooms are just the right size - we always have a balcony as would prefer this than a sea view. Sorrento itself is such a great place to visit with so many things to do and so many great places to eat. Would not hesitate recommending the hotel or area to anyone.

My husband and I recently stayed a week at the Hotel Del Mare and what can we say... we cannot fault the service that was proveded by all the staff. Especially Pascquali (sorry for the bad spelling!) The breakfast selcetion was very good, a wide range and again service was very good. Gianni the manager was very attentive and helpful. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious with good facilites and a stones throw away from the harbour where there are good selections of resturants. We would definatley reccommend Hotel Del Mare.
