A great find

We chose this hotel based on TA reviews. We could not have been more pleased! The building is beautifully restored and in impeccable condition throughout. Room was good sized as was the bath. Hotel staff were very accomodating. Breakfast offerings were substantial, although there was no hot food. We were traveling by train, and found the location a short taxi ride from the station. The location was also very convenient within the walls, with restaurants and shops close by. Many of the historic sites were a short walk up a steep incline to a main palazzo area. Very good value as well.

A nice room in a very beautifully renovated historic building. The room ceilings were at least 12 feet high and the room faced onto a quiet central courtyard. French Empire period furniture is used throughout the hotel. Breakfast room and food in keeping with the rest of the operation.
Easy to find hotel on main street of Spoleto. Parking is not easy but there is street parking on a side street about 5 minutes away from hotel. The location is perfect and all the sites in the town are a short walk up the main street. Several good restaurants are nearby.

The Cavaliere Palace was our hands-down favorite of the 5 places we stayed in Italy. The service was uniformly excellent and friendly, and all employees we dealt with spoke good English as an Extra Added Bonus. Our room, overlooking the internal courtyard, was very quiet and comfortable. Especially appreciated were the comfortable bed, the satellite TV, the full-sized shower (though with an ineffective door), and the wooden shutters that allowed us to completely darken the room. The included breakfast was sizeable and tasty, with good cappuccino.
The hotel provided a permit allowing free parking on the city streets; parking was only a mild hassle.
It was about a 15-minute uphill walk to the major tourist attractions of Spoleto (such as the Duomo, the Rocca, and the Ponte delle Torri), but the immediate vicinity of the hotel (which is inside the city walls) is quite lively and has much to recommend it. Spoleto was the favorite of the Umbrian cities we visited, and I'd love to return.
In short, we loved our time at the Cavaliere Palace and I didn't want to leave. At the rate we got of around $100/night, it was a great value.

The was a very nice hotel for the area. However, the staff was a little rude, and don't expect to get a room that looks liek the ones on the website. The rooms look more like the one pictured on trip advisor. Although I have to say that the rooms are large as far as basic hotel rooms go in Italy. There was an anteroom with two chairs with a table and an additional tv. Don't order eggs with breakfast. Unlike the other places we stayed at, eggs are not included in the complementary breakfast and cost 5 Euro per egg which was not told to us until checkout. That aside, they could not have been nicer in accomodating the car we had by giving us a parking pass to park one block away. This was very convenient. And they let us keep the pass well after checkout so we could enjoy the city before we left late that afternoon. If in the area, I would definately stay here again.
