Ideal location

Great hotel if you have heavy luggage as the Blue Aeroporto bus drops you directly outside the hotel.
Reception staff were excellet and very helpful guarding our suit cases and arranging a free trip to Murano whilst our room was made ready (probably got a kick back on anything bought). Other information about transport was spot on.
The meals were mixed with breakfast very basic but OK. Evening meal with a 20% hotel guest discount was still exorbitant and although the food was good, you are paying for a view of the main canal; there is better value elsewhere but it is finding these off street places when you only have a short stay.
Others have mentioned the dark rooms and there was noise in the morning but not too disturbing.
On the whole a reasonable hotel and we enjoyed a pleasant short break and stop off for two days before returning home.
Beautiful View and Convienent Location

Venice was the first stop of our two week honeymoon and this hotel was the best. The staff was friendly and very helpful with both directions and food recommendations. The hotel is located directly across from the water bus that brings you from the airport so you only have to drag your luggage a few hundred feet. It is also located just around the corner from St. Mark's Square.
The room was decorated beautifully. Full of lush fabrics and amazing Murano glass light fixtures. We were upgraded to a suite that overlooked the lagoon because our standard room wasn't ready when we got there. It was much larger than any other room we had in Italy.
Our favorite thing was the coffee. I have no idea how they brew it or what kind it is but it was amazing. I would go back in a heartbeat!

Before travelling I emailed to hotel to find out what time check in was (2pm), as we had an early flight. By the time we'd has a coffee, waited for a water bus and done the hour long trip to Venice from the Airport we weren't that early! On arrival at mid-day the really helpful and friendly man on reception said they'd got our room ready as they knew we were arriving early, hurray for my email (top future tip for all travellers)! Throughout our stay the reception staff were very friendly, and at check our they held our bags for us.
Yes, by American standards our room was small (but larger than the one I had in NY!), but perfectly normal size for European rooms. There was a large comfy bed, small TV, minibar and the bathroom had an actual bath as well as a shower, lovely robes etc. We had a small balcony on the side of the hotel overlooking the Danielli Hotel. The room was clean and well presented.
The hotel location is what sells it, 4 buildings along from the Doges palace, throughout our stay we spotted loads of poor folks dragging suitcases up and over bridges, clutching maps and looking really unhappy - not for us. Straight along from St Marks waterbus stop, 5 mins max past loads of tourists by the bridge of sighs.
The restaurant at the hotel is lovely, the service was not hurried but set to our pace, and friendly staff, plus 20% off for residents.
Breakfast was better than the usual continental with the addition of scrambled eggs and pancetta, which really set me up for a day of walking.
Weather bitterly cold and dry for a couple of days, cool and damp for the other 2. Along with comfy foot wear take a plastic mac and a warm hat!
