Stuffy, smoky, and dirty

You really need to be prepared for this one - it is stuffy, smoky and dirty. Once you get past the reception area and go upstairs the smell hits you hard - stuffy, stale smoke and air that hasn't been changed for several millenia.
Breakfast is emminently misseable - cheap hard biscuits, no coffee or tea and you're supposed to pay an extra euro for freshly squeezed orange juice. Better to miss breakfast and go and have a brioche and a cappucino at one of many nice cafes in the neighbourhood - we liked Nicos, opposite the Statzione Centrale.
There are other inexpensive hotels around - don't bother booking this one.

i have just come back from this hotel stayed 2 nights and i was gutted when i walked into our room, 1) the rooms are very very basic 2) they are tiny they just about fit a double bed in and nothing else 3) you could be on the toilet have a shower ( thats if it worked) and bush your teeth at once the bathroom was that small. then to top it off the breakfasts were rubbish it would be better for the hotel not to bother at all, boiled eggs biscuts and coffee. i would not recomend this hotel to a scabby dog.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!!! This is the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at!!!!!! Apart from the fact that it is extremely ugly - but ok, what can you do if people don't have any sense of decoration (huge plastic flowers everywhere - it looks like a cemetery and big black leather chairs!!!! ugly blankets and furniture from the previous century!!!!!!) - it is dirty and the staff is very very rude. The breakfast is made of biscuits, you know the ones you buy at supermarkets and the cheapest ones! You go for breakfast and the plates are all empty, the bread is hard like a rock, 2 out of 3 days there was no butter, because the lady said that their supplier didn't bring them any. When a new plate came with some cheese or whatever, people were almost fighting who will go first to get the little food that there was!!!! HAVE MERCY!!!!!

I booked the Delle Nazioni hotel for a weekend away and was appalled when I arrived and saw my room. It was extremely dirty, with unidentifiable filth on curtains and bedlinen, and the bathroom was the worst I've ever seen, including in campsites! There was engrained dirt on every surface and crevice in the bathroom, including the showerhead, which was a horror. After buying disinfectant to clean out the bathroom myself, I put the sign on the door asking that the cleaner does not 'clean' the bathroom, but lo and behold, when I returned to my room that evening the sign had been ignored, and more undentifiable muck had been smeared around the bathroom I had spent time and money cleaning!
My friend was put in a room with a large, uncurtained patio-style window from the stairwell into her bathroom, but was moved to a smaller but safer room on appeal. My room's door had a very insecure-feeling lock, and I slept very badly. There is a permanent sign up saying that the hotel is undergoing restoration, but this is chipped and worn, so clearly they've been waiting for a long time... and it is long overdue!
