The hotel is excellent for a peaceful and relaxing stay in Viarregio,with it's excellent transport connections to Pisa and Florence for some essential if hectic sightseeing. The decor of the hotel is more like a private club,and we found the staff to be very attentive to our requirements,and with good local knowledge.Rooms are nicely furnished and we were lucky to have a balcolny overlooking the seafront. With the shops and beach litterally across the road,the location is superb. Food in the restaurant is of a very high standard,and changes each evening to give a great variety,the menu is very varied and with excellent english translation. I would strongly reccomend this hotel if you are planning a holiday in this location.

This is one of the most beautiful hotels we have ever stayed at. The location was gorgeous, the staff was pleasant and incredibly helpful in making dinner reservations and assisting with travel suggestions. The hotel's guest sunbathing area on the beach was stunning too. Our room was squeaky clean with beautiful high ceilings, a large washroom, a lovely view of the pool and garden area and spacious enough for myself, my hubby and toddler. The breakfast was incredible in the morning with lots of choices of juices, hot and cold selections and cereals. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel...it made our stop in Viareggio well worth the journey!

I was here 2 years ago and after my holiday in France in 2007 we (Me and my partner) decided to come back to the Viareggio and the Grand Hotel. As with our first visit we had a great time, the food was very good and unpretentious and the rooms clean and quite large. Also the staff was very helpful and always available (Umberto at the front desk was particularly helpful) It was a shame that the weather was not good and we could not use the pool in the garden of the hotel much but we still enjoyed our time her and I am sure we will be back again in the future.

I often go to italy for holidays and business trips, therefore I had stayed in several 4* hotels across the country and I can definetely say this is one of the best hotel I have ever stayed and in absolute my best choice for my holidays in Tuscany. I can say Viareggio is one of the most charming summer resort in Italy, and it i very well connected to the other cities such as Lucca, Pisa and Florence. I sometimes hired a car and drive easily, and also using the train is very convenient .The Grand Hotel Royal is simply great and in excellent location.The first time I got there I was astonished just looking at its beatiful building with the 2 towers. And everytime I have always that feeling. The interiors are elegant , with spacious halls. As I have been staying several times at this hotel I had the chance to experience several bedrooms and I can say the bedrooms areall spacious and well decorated , and very clean. On the back of the hotel there is a garden with a fantastic outdoor swimming pool where I could find relax and spend a good time reading and also socialising with the other guest. The pool is very well serviced with lounges, towels, a bar, changing rooms etc.. The service in general in the hotel was very good, I found all areas of the hotel very satisfying,(restaurant, reception, bar, etc) and employees were kind , polite, proactive in assisting guests and professional (important detail). The rates are really competitive and it would say a good value considered the level and all the things this hotel is able to offer,for sure the only in the area .my feedback is more than positive, and I will be going there again. I reccomended to my friends too, and those one they spent holidays , they were happy too.

I stayed at the Grand Hotel Royal, Viareggio, in May and had a wonderful holiday. Viareggio is only half an hour away from Pisa airport which offers really good flights to the UK over the summer - this was one of the factors for booking this resort. The hotel was in an excellent location, in front of the beach and on the main passegiata, close to the shops and the centre of the town. It was in walking distance for everything - train station, buses and beach. I chose to book a room at the back of the hotel as it was slightly cheaper and although there wasn't a view of the sea, the room was excellent. Spotlessly clean, a nice size and good bathroom. I went out all day, everyday, sightseeing and shopping so was extremely happy with my choice. The restaurant is lovely - there is a wide variety of food on the menu; tomato mozzarella salad, prosciutto and melon, fish, meat, pasta, wonderful italian cuisine. The restaurant staff were extremely accommodating and friendly, serving the food efficiently. All the staff in the hotel were fantastic - very, very helpful, so friendly and I felt part of the hotel while I was on holiday. There is a pool in the gardens of the hotel which was a considerable size. There were lovely sunbeds with umbrellas and a pool side bar. I ate there most lunch times as the food was really good; pizzas, salads, sandwiches, pasta, along with snacks, ice creams, etc. The beach in front of the hotel was also calm, as it was low season, with spacious umbrellas and chairs. I will definitely be returning to the Grand Hotel Royal again and would recommend it to everyone. It is great for families as everyone is so friendly and helpful and also couples or friends who want to combine seeing Tuscany with time on the beach.
