Location is good: between Central Station and the historic center, with trams next to the hotel, which may be a cause for concern for some, but luckily I brought earplugs! Even better because a faulty airconditioning meant we had to sleep with open windows.
The beds are comfy and large, albeit with hard matresses. The room was big enough as was the bathroom, very clean as well.
Drawback was the service of the frontdesk personnel. Although they spoke English, their attitude could have been friendlier. We had to print boarding passes for our return flight and the printer was having difficulties printing. The onduty receptionist was rude and not helpful at all! We ended going to a different hotel to print wat was needed.
Breakfast was a bit of a let down, not really 4* quality. Bread seemed old and juices weren't fresh.
But we still had a great time in Milan; visited the old city and took a trip to Lake Maggiore by train. I would recommend the city for a short stay.
Hotel is not worthy of a 4* qualification. I would say a reasonable 3* would be a better description.

this hotel is close to the train station so you can walk the distance in 10minutes if you like, the metro is only around the corner which is quite good but to be honest there is nothing of interest within walking distance of the hotel that we found. You need to get on the metro to see anything. The staff were very helpful and the room was comfortable but the air conditioner did seem to have a mind of its own! For the price we paid i don't think it was worth it for this hotel, i would get somewhere closer to the centre if we went back to milan

Ok, first the good news:
- Windsor is excellently located just a 10 minutes walk from Via Della Spiga and all the sights of the centre of Milano. Also, it is just a 10 minutes walk to the Central Station - if you prefer the bus from the airport instead of taxi.
- The rooms are actually quite okay. Small, but I liked the old fashioned decor. Wonder why they did not decorate the whole hotel like this?
- Free internet. Always a plus, and a bit unexpected here.
Now the bad news:
- The interior of the rest of the hotel is trying to be contemporary chic, but it misses the target completely. It is quite ugly and already shows signs of wear and tear.
- Breakfast is a joke. Ok, they have more on the buffet than many other italian hotels, but the quality of the food is horrible.
- The hotel is noisy as hell. I am usually not bothered by street noise, but every time a tram passes the hotel at night - the whole building shakes like in an earthquake. I honestly have not slept this bad in a hotel for many many years.
- NO amenities. You go to this hotel to sleep. Nothing more, nothing less. Dont expect anything that a normal 4 star business hotel would provide...
All in all - I got what I paid for at 90 EUR/night - but it was not the bargain I had thought it would be... If you are just looking for a good location; try it, but if you expect more from a hotel - go elsewhere...

My first impression of the Windsor was not the best. It took me over 20 minutes to find it (completely my fault) and the area, especially on a Sunday morning, is far from interesting. But the hotel itself was fine. I was lucky enough to get a room on the 7th floor so unlike other reviewers I had no problems with noise. The room was spacious enough for a single and clean and the bathroom looked recently renovated. Also, the free mini bar came really handy on a warm June day. I loved the breakfast, which was included in the very decent price.
As far as the area is concerned it might not be the most interesting area of the city but public transport is just around the corner and the central station is really close by (about 10min).
All in all I would definetelly stay there again!

We spent two nights at this hotel in August. First thing I really need to mention is – don’t go to the restaurant they recommend – it’s a scam. It’s close to the hotel, the food it’s nice, however they’ll charge you 5 euros “coperto” per person. Most restaurants only charge 1 or 2 euros, even expensive ones in the city centre with a view of the dome!! If you do decide to go (we arrived quite late so we didn’t really have a choice) don’t tip, they will have already included a 12.5% charge.
About the hotel - location is good, close to the metro, one stop from the main train station and tree stops from the dome. Inside - it depends what room you get. We got lucky and got a superior room, as there were no more regular ones available. Must admit, it was quite nice and spacious. My parents-in-law weren’t so lucky though and got a small and very uncomfortable room, with a small bathroom and just a shower. The shower and taps weren’t working properly, TV didn’t work the first night and their water wasn’t replenished as it was supposed to. It was quite noisy as well, but lucky for us it was the time of the year when the air-conditioning was functioning so we had no reason to open the windows. By reading previous reviews I could see that others before us haven’t been that lucky.
Housekeeping knocked on our door one our before checkout time which we found extremely irritating.
Breakfast was quite good and the coffee was brilliant. Internet access is free which was quite convenient.
Now about the parking. As there were no places available in the hotel garage they sent us to a garage across the road. It was meant to be at the same price as the hotel – 22 euros per day. However when we left (a day and a half later) instead of charging us per day – 44 euros in total, they wanted to charge us by the hour (2 euros per hour) saying that’s the only way the computer would have it!! My husband had to argue with them and in the end they did us a “favour” and we only paid the rate we were initially quoted.
All in all not a 4* by British standards, but not bad for 70 euros per night per room.
