Grand place, rooms plain enough, its cheap, clean, big rooms, nice view out onto the madness of piazza garribaldi. my stay was good.

The staff were polite and helpful but rooms very drab and cleaning standards certainly debatable.
The beds are comfortable within linen changed during our stay and clean towels daily.
Breakfast although not a large selection was perfectly adequate.
The hotel is situated near train and bus stations so is noisy and pretty grim.......................however the glazing in the hotel is excellent and when shut not a sound from the traffic is heard.
I would not stay there again and would not recommend it to anyone.

I ve been in Hotel Cavour two times in the last two weeks.
Well, the hotel position is good if you want to stay near the station, anyway the area is really not good for what concenrs traffic, noises and cleanliness.
The hotel is quiet, the receptionists are very kind and they help you if you need something, also the other staff is helpful and kind.
I've stayed in three different rooms, the number 90, 55, and 16.
The 55 is very spacious and with a double bed (i was single), but it is not very silent in the night. The 90 is at the fifth floor and is a bit more silent.
the worst is the 16 which is at the first floor right on the street, so you could listen very clearly tram and car's passing under your balcony.
The furniture of the hotel is a little bit old and poor, but in a good state, compared to other b&b and hotel where i ve been in NaPOLI. The parquet is plastic-made, so you can listen very clearly the steps of other people. The bathroom is of a good size and it is not too bad. The hotel is very clean, but the breakfast is not so good, especialy if you are english (mortadella instead of bacon and no eggs). Cappuccino and caffè are not very good.
The hotel could be much better if the owner would have renewed the rooms and the facilities.
anyway of you are not lookng for something near the station you can find something better in other areas, the city is not so dangerous as described by newspaper and television...and it is very picturesque

Good points, very good for public transport, close to the main rail network and the circumvesuviana for visiting Pompeii and Herculeneum.
If you arrive at the airport take the Alibus to Garibaldi (it is 3 euros each, but a taxi will cost you 60 euros).
Bad points, this hotel felt a bit unloved and the beds were hard, the shower was tiny (but functional).
Clean and basically ok, but not for a special occasion.

See Naples and die !!

The saying:" See Naples and die" could literally apply to this dirty, run-down hotel. The location is truly awful, apart from its proximity to the train station and buses. As we got off the airport bus in the Piazza Garibaldi (in the early afternoon) we saw junkies injecting themselves and guys using the area as an outside urinal. Delightful!! The appalling, tatty, filthy Hotel Cavour's lobby was full of students sitting/ lying everywhere. A surly porter showed us to a room that was unmade and we walked passed discarded bread rolls on the stairs. He seemed oblivious to the strewn rubbish. My friend and I were all set to check out, but we were part of a small group and we were only in Naples for a few days. Thank God! Eventually, we were given a room that was passable, but in dire need of a total renovation. When you leave the hotel, which you need to do as much as possible, you have to run the gauntlet of street vendors and the whole place feels really unsafe and threatening. It is also the main red light district of Naples. Be warned ladies, who are travelling without any male companions. The traffic is also crazy/dangerous and you take your life into your hands trying to get across the roads. The attitude of the front of house staff and breakfast waiters was mostly offhand, rude and inefficient.
My personal view on Naples, as a city to visit, is that it is worth a look for a day. However, it is definitely preferable to spend the majority of your mini-break/ holiday in Sorrento or further along the Amalfi coast.
