I have just returned from 3 nights at the Picadilly and have to say it is a very comfortable and well located tourist hotel. It is located no more than 5-10 minutes from San Giovanni metro station on the very busy Via Magna Grecia. The area feels very safe as the vast majority of residents are local, I could not see any other hotels in the area.
The room is functional and clean, they are in the process of refurbishing the hotel, the room had all the amenities you would expect, a decent bathroom, towels are provided, TV, mini bar. The windows are double glazed which allowed a good night's sleep. The Via Magna Grecia is a busy and noisy road (even at night) why do the Italians love their car horns so much. The only slight downside was the lift, very slow and at breakfast time it took what seemed like ages to arrive at your floor empty, as it only takes 3 people.
Breakfast is in a 8th floor dining room with a great view over the city, you can just about make out the top of the Colosseum and St Peters is clearly visible. The buffet breakfast offers a good variety of options, I found the scrammbled eggs and bacon very good.
If you need to temporarily stow your luggage after checking out there is a free room available for the purpose.
We found the staff fantastic, they all spoke very good English and were most helpful especially when explaining the excellent public transport to us. Bus 87 stops directly opposite and takes you to the Colosseum and terminates not too far a walk from the Vatican, the 360 takes you to Termini railway station. They did recomend a restaurant, its menu being displayed in reception, best avoided, we found it poor in all aspects. I can thopugh highly recomend 'l Corsari' ,turn right from the main doors and the restaurant is on the other side of the road about 100 yards away. We ate there twice, the quality is excellent and the waiting staff are very hellpful, the restaurant is frequented mainly by the locals so the prices aren't a rip-off.
All in all we found it a perfect base to see the sites, the traffic noise is the only consideration - maybe a room on the opposite side to the Via Magna Grecia would be quieter. Thanks to the wonderful staff the Hotel Picadilly is a great place to stay.

Stayed 3 nights. The hotel is conveniently located. Whilst not exactly in the centre you can be at the Collosseum within 12-15 minutes by the metro (which whilst shabby is ultra efficient). The room was of good quality, even the mini bar wasn't a rip off and the first drink is free!! The range of English tv channels is a bt limited but then that's not wat you go to Rome for (is it?). The 8th floor breakfast room overlooking the Rome skyline is excellent and the selection of food is good.

Stayed 3 nights at end of Feb. Clean & friendly. Currently undergoing a much needed refurb!
Decent 2nd floor room but shower was poor and view was of nearby apartment buildings. Having said that, we only slept and had breakfast here. Terrific views from 8th floor restaurant.
5 min walk from Metro. A bit out of city centre/tourist areas but this had it's advantage with having no crowds around late at night.
All in all, an adequate base from which to see all the tourist attractions.

We had a great stay at the hotel. Very clean place, good locality and a nice breakfast room at the 8th Floor providing a good view on the city of rome. Very friendly staff. We had left behind a mobile phone in the hotel and realised it after a few days. It just took a phone call from us and they promtly sent the phone to my home.
On the whole it was a great stay and i would surely recommend this hotel to everyone.

The Picadilly Hotel is in a great location, only 300 metres from San Giovanni metro which is only three stops from Termini Station, there is also a bus stop outside and if you catch number 87 or number 360 bus this will take you to many of the sightseeing locations or to Termini where you can catch buses, metro or trains also most of the tourist buses.
We had a nice refurbished room, it was at the front of the hotel, but although the road is busy it didn't keep us awake, they seem to keep the shutters down, so you don't have a view but it does keep out the noise.
Our room was cleaned each day, we had clean pillowcases and towels daily, and our sheets were changed twice in our four night stay.
The breakfast room was small but nice, and had good views as it is on the 8th floor, and we could see St Peters and the Victor Emanuel momument from that room. The breakfast was good, everthing nice and fresh and with a good selection of food and beverages.
Staff were always helpful and polite.
A word of warning, when we arrived at Termini Station from the airport
(we had previously booked the Terravision service to get us there), a
"helpful" taxi driver offered his services to get us to the hotel. Before we got into what we thought was an official taxi we checked the charge and were told it would be on the meter. We had one of the most frightening drives we have ever had to the hotel and we noted that the meter stated 8 euros 16 cents, however when we went to pay (after the driver had got our case out of the boot), he told us to look at the meter and the cost had risen to 42 euros, whilst we were counting out the money, he took 55 euros from my hand and drove off before we could do anything. The return journey at the end of our stay, in a taxi booked by the hotel cost us 10 euro!!
We found a lovely restaurant close the the Trevi Fountain called
"That's Amore", the food was lovely, freshly cooked and the staff were
so friendly, its on Via in Arcione.
We would certainly recommend the Picadilly Hotel and if we were returning to Rome we would stay there again, given the location and the actual hotel.
