My partner and I stayed here for a couple of nights after a holiday in the Marche. The hotel is around 10 mins drive from Cortona, and a good option during the summer when the town gets quite crowded. The nicest things about it are the garden, which is very peaceful, and the pool, which has a great view up to Cortona. The pool is pretty generous for a hotel pool and good for those who want to swim for exercise. I noticed some people on this site complained about its being cold, but that certainly wasn't a problem in July. The indoor spaces are a little cramped and our room was dark and not especially large, but it was reasonably comfortable and the bathroom was a decent size. The decor is very 'country house' and not necessarily to everyone's taste: depends rather how you feel about stencils. The notion that wireless is available in the rooms is rather optimistic - we were told it 'sometimes' worked upstairs. The reception staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, and the atmosphere in general was pleasant. Breakfast is pretty good and eaten outside under the trees, which is nice. All in all, a good bet, esp. if you're touring the area, rather than specifically wanting to visit Cortona, when you might be better off with a hotel actually in the town.

Can't say enough about this wonderful, small Hotel. We stayed there 3 days -at first because of it's central location (great starting off place for Assisi,Pienza,Montepulciano) -and then for it's straight forward beauty. It's beautifully done (try rm 22),and has a spectacular view of Cortona (10 minutes away). The staff was absolutely terrific -warm,helpful,efficient...and the price was EXTREMELY reasonable given how low the $ has sunk.....will absolutely return...2 minor issues....despite their photos, there is no golf course to speak of (it's sort of a chip and putt kind of thing) and the wi-fi doesn't work (we had to use their desk top)....

My husband, and two children ages 13 and 15 just returned from a 12 day visit to Italy. After being in Napoli for four nights visiting family we were more than pleasantly suprised with our warm welcome and our wonderful saty at Villa Baldelli. Just outside of the town of Cortona we felt like we had gone back in time. Our rooms were really comfortable and furnished with traditional Italian furniture. We were even able to get interconnceting rooms. We really felt at home. We were there in the off season but the pool looked great and would be a place I would return to in the summer. I thought the grounds were lovely with birds everywhere. We could just picture sitting out on the patio on a summer evening. The staff was great and very accomodating. The breakfeast was really good with a banna and raisn torte to die for. Who needs to buy a villa in Tuscanny when you can stay here. We felt we got what we paid for and more here.

My travel agent had to talk me into this one because Cortona wasn't a part of my original itinerary. I am so happy that she did. In our 2 weeks in Italy we stayed at some really great hotels but this place stood out for it's customer service. The staff is the most friendly and helpful probably of any hotel that we've ever stayed at. But that's not to say that the rooms aren't great, because they are. We stayed in the seperate carraige house-like annex. Our room was huge and beautifully decorated. And finally, there was a lot more to do in the area than I had expected. We were only there a few days, just as kind of a rest between Sorrento and Florence, but we, with the help of the staff, found too many things that we wanted to do while there. So at least now we have an excuse to go back, and we will.
