If you need a cheap place to stay in Naples this is the hotel for you. The rooms are basic and small but clean. The staff is helpull and friendly and there is a small hotel bar/breakfast room where you can get a drink or some snack in the evening and breakfast in the morning. Although the rooms do not face the street, there is still a lot of street noise that can keep you awake at night.
If I ever go to Naples again, I would probably stay somewhere closer to the sea front.

Booked this hotel after reading some of the other reviews on Trip Advisor. Thank you so much. We were four girls doing a girly weekend in Naples, and not being very experienced travellers, we were nervous about the city and the accomodation from everything we had heard about the place.
This hotel was everything we could have asked for and more.
The most important aspect for us was location location location. This was right in the heart of Naples. Very close to the shopping streets of Corso Umberto and Via Toledo. Also 15 mins walk from the Centrale train station. Very good connections by bus.
The street was busy enough at night to feel safe walking around, but not too busy to be kept awake by the traffic.
We also found some excellent restaurants and pizzerias in the side streets.
As my main aim in going to Naples was to buy a Nativity set, we couldn't have asked for a more perfect location, as this hotel was a 5 min walk from San Gregorio Armeno.
The hotel is situated behind a big double door, through which you access a courtyard to the hotel. This also serves to cut down the amount of noise from the traffic.
Our rooms were spacious for Naples standards and impeccably clean. Each had its own balcony and was beautifully decorated.
The staff at the hotel could not have been friendlier. They all spoke English, and went out on a limb to give us directions / order taxis etc.
Will definitely stay here again.

This has to be one of the best hotels we ever stayed at, and we’ve had our share of trekking about Europe, believe me. I guess we were really lucky with our Italian vacation this year, and I mean really lucky, considering that this was our first trip to Naples. A friend of a friend recommended the Hotel des Artistes to us, she said it was unexpectedly quiet for a city hotel. And it’s true. Even if it’s got a central location, the noise coming from the street is barely heard, only the loudest honking or screeching reached my ear. That’s because all rooms face inwards, to the inner courtyard of the palace. By the way, this place is quite elegant (a bit flamboyant for my taste, perhaps), it really has that “Palazzo” feeling.
We didn’t find any significant fault to the room, the bathroom, the staff and other practical details of hotel-staying. A kind of a peculiar thing was that the street door was always closed, you had to ring and someone came and opened it for you, but this wasn’t really inconvenient. Also, the breakfast was a bit too modest, which my husband found especially annoying, but it’s ok if you’re used to eating light.
Anyway, this is a hotel made for pleasure staying. It was perfect for visiting what was worth visiting in Naples because it’s right on the Via Domo, near the Cathedral. We went for late walks on this Via Domo and it was perfectly safe, always circulated, clearly lighted, with plenty of shops and cafes and things like that.
Anyway, I don’t think we’ll return to Naples anytime soon, but if we ever do, this is the hotel where we’re probably going to choose.

Great Hotel. Feels secure. Just off the via Duomo. Set back in a courtyard. Great art nouveau lift (20 cents a journey). Hotel is reasonably priced, very clean and great value for money.
