daniel's hotel is located in the heart of the tourist section of rome yet it is an oasis of calm. we had a lovely, spacious room and enjoyed breakfasts on the rooftop terrace.
the location is very convenient if you want to see most of the touristy things (right near the spanish steps). cars cannot drive on the street - pedestrian traffic only so be prepared to lug your suitcases the final distance!
the woman at the front desk recommended a fabulous restaurant called before to us - totally untouristy and we had a wonderful meal and evening.

This review is a year over due. We we in Rome May 2007 and had a wonder week and half at Hotel Daniel. Without a doubt when we return, we will book again. We had a junior suite, called the Verdie Suite #501. The 5th floor only has 2 rooms & the breakfast area in the next floor up. The room had king sized bed (very comfortable), dressing table, wardrobe, small table w/2 chairs, mini bar w/ 19" TV (2-3 English speaking channels - all news) and loveseat that coverts to a bed. We had 2 large windows th at over looked Via Frattina (no traffic, so very little noise). The bathroom was adequate, but much smaller than those pictured on the internet. Big towels that were replaced daily (no washcloths, so if you require them bring your own). There is a hair dryer in the bathroom, but only one speed & temp. Being right under the roof top breakfast are, we could hear some chairs being moved on some mornings. We could easily walk upstairs to breakfast which consisted of juice, coffess, water, tea, assorted cookies, tomatoes, boiled eggs, cereal, breads, turkey, cheese, salami. The roo top is enclosed by the windos can all be opened on nice days. All of the staff members were very nice & spoke English (expect for the maid, she spoke only Italian & French). Location is the best...from the roof top you can see the top of Trinti del Monti, Emmanuel Victor Monument. Easy walking to shopping, places to eat, and the Spagna Metro Stop. Next stay we are going to request Room 502 it has a nice roof top patio.

My parents, husband and I spent 3 lovely nights at Daniel's Hotel the beginning of November. It is charming and the location was fantastic around the corner from the Spanish Steps. I believe there are only 2 rooms per floor and we had the 2 on the 5th floor. Ours had a private balcony which is perfect for sitting out and sipping some wine and my parents had a view of the charming street. The rooms and baths are immaculate and beautifully decorated. Fresh fruit was left each day. The breakfast room on the 6th (top) floor was charming with views of the local rooftops and gardens! The food was wonderful and was a great start to our busy days. The girls that work there were very sweet and helpful. They were happy to serve us wine and drinks in the little bar every evening! My only complaint is that the gentleman that worked there evenings was a bit diffucult when it came to making restaurant reservations, but overall we felt like we had found a hidden gem of a hotel in Rome! Would definitely go back!

"We booked our stay at Hotel Daniel based mostly on reviews on Trip Advisor. The Hotel was nice with an exceptional location if you want to shop and see some of the major sites...Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, etc.
We were upgraded to a suite upon arrival so I cannot comment on room size. Our Suite was large by European standards. My biggest complaint was the lack of hot water around 7:00 p.m. just when you need a hot shower! The water was tepid at best!
The staff was O.K. I was a bit disappointed based on some of the former reviews I had read on trip advisor. One particular staff member was wonderful, but the rest were very mediocre. We also felt they recommended "touristy" resturaunts vs. authentic cuisine. Our best meal, which we found on foot, was in Travestere.
Hotel Daniel was fine overall, but upon returning, I might spend a bit more money for some better service and more ammenities.
