We booked the Hotel Verona for an opera trip after a short break at the same hotel last May. We enjoyed our first stay but thought it was even better this year although we were in exactly the same room on the first floor with no balcony. The room is fairly small but adequate for two with plenty of storage space and a good sized bathroom.
First impressions are good with a complementary bowl of fruit and the air conditioning is excellent, in fact we were too cold on the first night although it was very hot outside. Breakfast is very good with a wide selection of cold food to choose from, including rice cakes for non wheat eaters. The coffee is great and there is a variety of fresh fruit as well as yoghurt, cake and fruit juice. The staff are unfailingly pleasant and helpful.
The hotel is really well situated, an easy ten minute walk from the station and five minutes from the Arena. There is no problem finding a restaurant in Verona but our favourite is the Hostaria dall Orso which has interesting and original food as well as an enormous wine list. It is lovely inside and in summer you can sit under the arches at the front.
Whilst in Verona don't miss the Giardino Justi over the river.
Opera in the Arena is something everyone should experience and I would strongly recommend the Hotel Verona as your base.

WE are very particular to get a good hotel .This was one of the best moderate priced hotels on our recent 4 week trip in Italy. It was quiet ,the room nice, staff good ,free internet and free bike. It,s just a short 3 minute walk to all the city and train station.
It was quiet and well appointed . My wife needs a particular diet for her MS ,and for breakfast they even had some GLUTEN and wheat free cereal ,especially for her (we did not encounter this at any other hotel on our trip).
I cannot speak more highly of this hotel !!

It's a modern hotel in a great location, and it was perfectly adequate for our two night stay. There were some nice touches like free wifi and bicycles, and special mention should go to Elisabetta who was extremely helpful and made restaurant reservations for us. The other staff weren't so impressive however and when we had a problem with the computer neither of them seemed to have a clue.
The room itself was tiny and the only place we could put the suitcase was right in front of the door, so thankfully there wasn't a fire in the middle of the night. It was really hot and the walls were very thin, so we didn't really sleep very well. The bathroom was very nice though. We felt the decor was more faceless and functional rather than the modern, stylish image we had been expecting. Also the bar is really not a bar but in the basement breakfast room, not a place you'd want to relax and have a drink in, but then there are plenty of places near by so not a problem. Lastly breakfast was ok but not great.

Great place to stay in an underrated city. The Hotel Verona is the complete package. Reception staff are pleasant and provide excellent advice with regard to points of interest and restaurants. Common areas are clean, well appointed and well lit. Internet is free in the lobby and free WiFi is available if you have your laptop. Rooms are spacious (by European standards), have a clean, modern aesthetic and are equipped with SAT TV in multiple languages. Bathrooms are clean and large and showers have good water pressure and ample supply of hot water at all hours of the day. Noise from the large boulevard fronting the hotel is negligible. Location is excellent. Breakfast buffet (included) has everything that the average traverler would want. Hotel even offers covered parking approximately 1/2 block away for a reasonable fee.

This hotel was great: free wireless, free internet computer to use in the lobby, wooden floors in the room, nice staff, walking distance from both the railway station and the Arena & old center... We paid pretty much, 100 euros, but were pleased at what we got.
Downside was that we found an ashtray in our 'non-smoking' room, but luckily the room didn't stink at all and because of the AC, wooden floors and big doors to balconies felt better than many real non-smoking rooms in other hotels. The stairs as well as elevator were small, so with big baggages and at busy times it might take a while to get up to your room. The staff was very helpful and we got an early check-in as well as a late check-out: perfetto!
Breakfast was good with magazines lying around: Herald Tribune and some Italian newspapers. But then again, what do you need a breakfast for in an Italian city? I just couldn't wait to get to those Pizzeria's for yet another Pizza Verdura. :-)
This is a great hotel for business travelers and people going by train.
