Hotel Le Terrazze and Campania revisited For us, Campania is the nicest region in Italy! While we like to go to places where we have not been yet, it is very relaxing to go one week during the year to a place we already know and where we are being welcomed like friends. The Hotel Le Terrazze is such a place and their 2007 Expedia award as being “an insider tipp” should be extended. Very good price/value relation, away from the hassle of Sorrento. This year we did not cook very much ourselves, although our apartment had all the facilities, but enjoyed the excellent meals from the next-door Il Nido on the terrace of our apartment with a bottle of the Le Terrazze house wine in warm, almost wind-still summer nights, enjoying the stunning view (about which has been said enough on this site) and felt like being in heaven. We also had a good dinner in an excellent environment at the Farm House. Le Terrazze has a family atmosphere, with a little library and a piano and in each room you will find an excellently prepared book with plenty of information and pictures about the sites to visit in Campania. We do not share other guests’ comments that you need a car in order to reach Le Terrazze and get about - we perfectly travelled by public transport to the hotel and made excursions from there by public transport. The diverse comments made by guests tell more about the guests than about a hotel……

We stayed at Le Terrazze in mid-May 2008. The view from the hotel is stunning. We initially had booked for 2 nights and liked it so much that we added another night. Having a car makes a big difference, since it is a good 5 - 10 minutes from downtown Sorrento. If you are visiting Positano and the Amalfi coast, it is good central place. The drive to Positano and Amalfi is beautiful. We liked returning to the hotel and its quiet environment. Antonio was very helpful and a great source of information. Breakfast was very decent, what hotels typically serve in Italy. Price was very reasonable, a good value and above all a beautiful view.

We chose this hotel for our four day stay in Sorrento as it had parking, use of the swimming pool at the hotel next door and excellent views. The views are fantastic, as it is on a hillside looking down on the bay of sorrento. There are SITA buses which run from directly outside the hotel down into Sorrento (at varying frequencies throughout the day from between 20 mins to an hour) we chose to take the bus (?2 each) due to difficulties parking in Sorrento or on the Amalfi coast. It takes about 15 minutes. So no problems there. We did have a little trouble finding it (we drove past it at first as the sign is only easy to read when coming from one direction). We received a friendly welcome and had no problems checking in or out, the hotel also provided helpful information regarding transportation and activities. Our room was well furnished, comfortable and clean with a small patio area, although with windows only on one side it was a little dark. It was nice to have a swimming pool although after mid afternoon the sun disappears behind the building therefore its better to use in the morning. The breakfasts were good although I would have appreciated more fruit. The breakfast room offers excellent views.
