This was the first place we stayed in Marrakech & by far the best. The pool is a delight & the staff could not do enough... Very friendly & highly professional.
Beautiful staff & a lovely atmosphere.
This was a perfect sanctuary for us to acclimatise to Morocco. Highly recommended!

This small hip hotel is delightfully located in the heart of Marrakesh, with a roof garden offering a bird's eye view of the streets below. It exudes luxury and comfort with a quirky mix of traditional and modern stone, wood, water and greenery. I had the sense that someone with a sense of humour had been let loose in the more OTT touches. Having said that, it blends with the surrounding area perfectly.
Overall, the design of this relatively new hotel is thoughtful and coherent, the rooms all lying off beautiful courtyards in Moroccan riad style. We ended up changing rooms on a return visit, so between us got the chance to stay in four different rooms. It's probably best to mention if you are particularly averse to animal prints - some are a bit in your face - but then this is a hotel that celebrates Morocco and they do it so well.
To be honest, the service was a bit on the cool side. The staff were really friendly and kind but on at least one occasion we were left waiting for drinks that never arrived.
The breakfasts were fine - looking at other reviews, I think it is important to establish that this hotel is not trying to compete with some kind of Holiday Inn American breakfast buffet.
The spa was a delight but we didn't find it until the second visit, as it is tucked away at the back. Like other reviewers, I hadn't realised that you were not allowed to use it without booking a treatment. This is probably because it is actually quite small.
All in all, it offered us a calm oasis from which to venture into the Moroccan streets, next time I might go for one of the smaller riads but this is a great introduction for those who feel that they want to stay in something that feels more hotel like.

First of all I loved the decoration and we saw many hotels (best ones) and I can say that Sultana was the best if you really want to experience a riad of Marrakesh. Before we went, I was not so sure if we had made the right decision because of some negative reviews here but now I can't understand why people don't like this hotel. everything was excellent, everyone was very friendly, location was very good, our room and especially the bathroom was wonderful, it was like a dream in 1001 nights. we tried to spend as much time as we could in the hotel because of its beauty.
The spa had a verryyy lovely athmosphere, but we didn't love the hammam because it's a little different and much better in our country but this was their style and it was ok. still dont miss the spa, may be the best in Marrakesh.
only I'll say that if you prefer a transfer from and to the airport from the hotel you should know that it's 3 times more expensive than a taxi which is just 5-6 euros.
I can say that if you want something different and romantic in an egzotic athmosphere you should really stay in this beautiful hotel.

On our visit to Marrakesh, myself and friends wanted to go to a spa to have a traditional hammam. Le Bains De Marrakesh was full which was our preferred choice so our manager at the riad contacted the Sultana hotel to see if they had availablility. They did and we went along. The hammam was okay - the room was in no way steamy so when the woman had covered me in the black soap and left me, I was pretty bored as it was just like sitting in a tiled room with only paper pants on! She exfoliated before moving onto the massage. My friend and I were in the same room and good thing we are close as we were both naked apart from said pants and lying next to each other while getting the massages. The spa is all very pretty with a softly lit big jacuzzi in the middle but it had cold water which was a disappointment, Overall though, when we went to pay, we ended up having an argument with the so called manageress as they charged us 1100 for a 30 minute hammam and a 50 minute massage, She said our riad manager booked us in for the more expensive hamman and despite us arguing he booked it in front of us so if there was a choice, he would have asked us, she still spoke to us as if we were stupid. It was a very frustrating way to end what should have been a very pleasant experience. i would not recommend going here - instead, there are lots of cheaper and more local hammams who offer much better value for money and no doubt better customer service.
