I spent 8 days in the Villa Medici from 18-26 October. Very nice little hotel, convenient to the train to downtown (9 mins ride). I occupied the junior suite and lots of room in this two story loft type room with bedroom upstairs in the loft. Spacious private patio that seated 7 or 8. Typical Italian breakfast, heavy on bread, sugar, and caffeine.
Excellent bargain, very nice staff, free internet access in the rooms, and convenient location made it a super stay.

We just wanted to say thank you for the great week we spent at Villa Medici beginning of February. The hotel is splendid, the rooms very comfortable and the service excellent. We also were touched by your offering a bottle of wine for Tony's birthday.
You have all been very helpful during our stay and helped make our holiday the more pleasant. We have enjoyed visiting Napoli very much and will definately stay at your hotel next time we visit Napoli.
Grazie mille.

Kitchenette and Pool

Main attraction of this place is probably the kitchenette and pool (and laundry machines for the suites). Place is not too well maintained as some lights were not working, and not fixed after a month's stay. Occassionaly hot water was absent at night.
It's a villa in the CITY, so you should expect the pool/garden to be within the small villa boundary.
There is free parking and free in-room highspeed internet hookup.
It overlooks an abandoned steel mill(not chemical plant), with shrubs planted behind their wall. It is a boring residential neighbourhood with no shops, and restaurants are 5-10 minutes walking distance. The commuter rail "Cumana" runs immediately behind the hotel, between ~5:30 - 21:30. It does shake you up a bit as the soundproofing is probably outdated. But it never bothered us that much at bedtime or in the morning.

Good for trainspotters

If this hotel was in a nice location it could be described as an adequate bed and breakfast with reasonable, clean rooms and a very small garden and pool. However, the area was unpleasant (though our view over the disused chemical works was at least interesting), the trains shook the building every 15 minutes, no kidding, and the pool and garden area were very small and cramped, only really good for a plunge to cool off. You wouldn't want to spend any time there. The breakfast, shoehorned into tiny area, was the least pleasant we experienced in Italy. We felt the web site was quite misleading.
