Lovely hotel on the outskirts of Frascati, and an excellent alternative to staying in central Rome. We arrived at Rome after a long frlight from Auckland [NZ] and were nervous of the driving, so rented a van and drove one hour to Frascati. The town is beautiful and very historic, and the Flora is an oasis of elegant charm. The staff were reserved but polite, helpful when asked, and efficient with service. Rooms were beautifully furnished, the bathrooms were lovely, beds comfy, hotel well double glazed, and the continental breakfast offered a great choice and lots of fab continental fare. Loved it, will go back if ever that way again!

We stayed at Hotel Flora for one night after 2 and a half weeks travelling in Italy. The hotel itself was ok. and nice from the outside. The room was very big and the bath was super- though it could
have done with a bit of touching up in places. We stayed quite near the lift which made a 'ping' noise everytime it stopped. The staff were not at all friendly, infact we were shouted at for parking in the
wrong place as soon as we arrived. We expected more and this spoilt our opinion of the hotel itself. We weren't overwhelmed by Frascati and wished we had stayed another night in Rome instead. On a good note- the bed was very comfy!

This 4 star hotel was in an ideal location for travelling in and out to Rome. On a hillside above Rome a half hour rail journey out lies this lovely little town. Rome is a crazy city where we had to avoid motor cyclists and cars as they drove on the sidewalks at rush hour and other times too!
Frascati however gave us quiet respite from the frenetic activity of Rome. PLEASE TAKE CARE OF VALUABLES IN ROME - Ladies bags should be worn to the front and take only what you need. Gents a soft wallet with chain worn to the front of pants again with only what you need for the day. Tourists are easy pickings but make it difficult and you will be left alone.
Hotel Flora staff could not have been more helpful nothing was too much trouble for them. Breakfast was the typical buffet affair in a pleasant airy room or you could have it outside under the trees. The rooms were small but well appointed with internet access (not wireless), satellite T.V. and minibar. The bath also boasted a jaccuzzi which was very welcome after a day spent walking miles in Rome or up in the hills at the nearby Castel Godolfo a short bus journet away. (Try the walk around the lake)Buy tickets for buses and trains at the tabac shop near the start of the town.
The hotel did not do much in the way of food in the evening but you will be given a map on arrival where you will be told about the decent restaurants. If you want to go local don't miss the cantinas where you can choose from a self service menu a huge variety of local food.
Watch for set menus in the evening - only go for them if you can eat like a horse - we went for one in Frascati and not only were the portions huge but the plates just kept on coming.
As for sightseeing apart from the sights in Rome make sure you go to Ostia Anticca - even better than The Forum and not nearly so crowded only a short metro and overland journey from Rome on a 1 euro metro ticket - fantastic - spend the day here and take a packed lunch.
This hotel is also ideal for those travelling to Ciampino airport as it is only one station away from Frascati.
One last thing before getting on a bus or train make sure you get your ticket stampedon the buses or at the franking machines near or on the platform otherwise be prepared to pay a 25 Euro fine tourist or not.

Talk about disappointed! For the money we spent on this hotel we were not happy. The lobby & bar area are not very welcoming. The 1st room we were assigned was pokey, small with 1 curtain that didn't cover the window. I asked if it was much trouble to change room - the Reception staff were helpful but the 2nd room was not much bigger & had absolutely no air. The air conditioning didn't seem to work either. We got it for half price as it was Sunday but only spent about half an hour in it as it's a bit overrated (even for 9eur per person-thank god we hadn't forked out 18euro that it normally costs). Breakfast was good-very fresh and good variety. The hotel location is fine & there's a great restaurant next door (Comandini I think it's called). If I was visiting Frascati again I wouldn't bother with this Hotel...there has to be something a little classier for the same price. Jason

We stayed at the Hotel Flora on our way to Rome after being hopelessly lost for several hours. The staff could not have been more helpful. They allowed us to leave our car parked in their lot (no charge) and arranged for a driver to take us to our Rome hotel. Upon our return, we spent another night and were as pleased as before. Our room was lovely and well laid out. Breakfast is quite good. We have traveled extensively in Western Europe for more than 25 years and have seldom, if ever, encountered a friendlier, more professional staff. In addition, the hotel itself is lovely and the grounds are beautifully maintained.
