This hotel may be the best in town (or not), and it is a reasonable choice, but it needs some work. The room we had was huge, but the decor was dated and the bathroom was tiny and cramped. I guess it was clean and quiet, but it looked like nothing had been changed in 25 years or more, so it was a little depressing. The lobby was the same - and created a negative impression when we arrived. We ate dinner that evening in the restaurant and it was excellent, but rather high priced. The menu went on and on about using only natural ingredients and local foods. Ironically, the breakfast the next morning consisted of packaged commercial food - lots of it, but not very high quality. All in all, our stay was comfortable, but I would look for a more charming hotel if i went back to this town again. As a final note, the woman who checked us in and out (a owner, I think) never looked me in the face once -- and said only one word when we left: thank you. I was astonished by how little hospitatily she showed.

A splendid hotel in the hand of one of the world's most lovable persons

This was probably the best hotel experience in my life. The hotel is nice, cozy and comfortable, but these were not the first and most important aspect for us. THE OWNER, CARMELO!!! A friend, an artist, a philosopher, a cook, a companion, a story teller - and a doctor by education! One of the most valuable persons whom I have ever met in my life (>50).

This was a great hotel, we arrived in very late on our first night and even though the restaurant was closed they still accommodated us by serving us a typical Sicilian meal which was really nice.
The room was quite big and really nice. Carmelo was very hospitable his friend was travelling to the airport and he offered us a lift with him which was great.
Erice is a great place, the views are absolutely stunning, pictures cannot do this place justice.
We really enjoyed Favignana, it is a little island which takes about an hour on the ferry, the island is really quiet with lots of little beach coves, I would recommend hiring a bike it would be impossible otherwise to see it all. Also Capo San Vito was really good the beach was stunning.
In Erice I would recommend Ulisse for eating, and also the Castle was amazing, they will cook a typical Sicilian meal if you ask, it was around 100 euro including wine but it was worth it.
Although Erice was amazing place to stay hiring a car would be a good idea as the last bus to Erice is at 6 in the evening and will limit what you can do. Great to stay some where that isn’t commercial.

Nice Hotel

We found this hotel in Lonely Planet. It's a small, family run hotel with eclectic art. It has a nice sitting area and, since it was cold when we were there, there was a nice fireplace by which we warmed ourselves. The room was a bit sterile and but the bed was good and the room and bathroom were clean and well kept. It's right in town and on the main street so it's well situated.
cozy inn

Our room 320 was spacious and comfortable, the bathroom adequate. The inn keeper, Carmelo, worked hard to make his guests comfortable in his cozy albergo, greeting us with an offer of refreshment on our arrival and hustling in the kitchen during evening meals. Dinner was like home cooking, IF your mother happens to be Sicilian!
Erice is an interesting and charming stop, though a horrible storm prevented us from a planned exploration of the Zingaro Reserve.
The drive through farmland and vineyards from Palermo to Erice was quite beautiful and a stop at Segesta was a high point, a remarkable sight.
