Stayed here recently for our fifth wedding anniversary and paid £270 for 6 nights B&B; considering how close you are to the Costa Smeralda that's a bargain. The hotel is well placed for the local shops, the town square and especially Rena Bianca beach. The rooms are on the small side and simply furnished. Breakfasts are generous and feature cakes heavily! They also offer bread, fruit (tinned), cereals, yoghurts and hard-boiled eggs in addition to the usual drinks. Salami and cheese is €1 extra.

Stayed at the Hotel L'Ancora for 3 nights during the second week of August. The hotel is on a fairly quiet street, not much of a lobby other than the front desk. Room was on floor 2 (which is really third floor, since ground is 0 in Europe) with small balcony overlooking part of the town. It was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was average. The fellow who manages the hotel is very laid back. He is helpful, but you will have to take the initiative to seek help. Not a man of many words. Though if you speak Italian, his father (a very friendly elderly gentleman with loads of knowledge about the area, restaurants and beaches) is the one you should be talking to. He recommended 2 of the restaurants we went to for dinner (Peter's just 2 blocks away, and the Agriturismo that is 15 minute drive away near town of Rena Maiore). Both dinners were exceptional, especially the Agriturismo!! Highly recommended.
There is free and easy access to the internet via a computer that sits on the ground floor near the bar/tv area. There is an elevator handly for hauling big bags up to your room. Ample parking around the hotel.
The town of Santa Teresa di Gallura is a very good pick if you are looking for a small town (though as my night picture attests to, it seems much bigger than it is when the throngs hit the streets for the evening passegiatas) that has all the conveniences of a larger centre but without the traffic and noise problems. It is a great spot for beaching as well. La Rena Bianca is right by the town (warning, gets VERY crowded in August) and has spectacularly clear waters, like a number of areas in Sardegna.
If you want less crowded beaches, you can choose from a number that are all within 10-20 minute drive.
I would definitely recommend this hotel!

We had booked for two nights, but we had to leave after the first night where we kept awake most of the night with the very noisy, it was very basic, huge fridge in our room which we had to turn off as it was sounded as it was going to take off any minute !! grim dark bathroom, it needs a complete make-over !! without question are worst night in Sardinia .

We booked a one night stay but had to add another night because the ferry was not operating (gale force winds). The management went out of their way to help me cancel and book alternate arrangements in Corsica. The hotel room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The breakfast had a great variety of breads, cereals, jams and cheeses. We had an excellent time and would recommend this hotel to all.

I visited Hotel L'Ancora, Santa Teresa Di Gallura, and was amazed by the nice family run establishment. The room came with a large wardrobe, fridge and television (although this was a portable size, the good thing was that it did have 2 sides which had programmes in English, i.e. Fox Channel and Sky News Channel). The breakfast was superb with a large range of cakes, cereals, yoghurt with various fruit juice's, tea and a choice of coffees.
The location of the hotel was good as far as a walk to the centre of Santa Teresa Di Gallura, which was about a 10 minute stroll, however the walk to the Port area (handy for anyone wanting to catch a ferry to nearby Corsica), took longer and anyone wanting to get here should consider catching a bus or taxi, or driving there if they have use of their own car or, hire car!
The cleanliness of the hotel was exceptional as was the friendlness and helpfulness of the staff. Also the hotel was situated in a nice peaceful location! Excellent price.
Thank you Hotel L'Ancora.
