Very poor continental breakfast, food not replaced when it had gone, so if you eat after the mad rush you have what is left. Evening meals not for the healthy appetite, Meat, a few Potatoes and one veg was typical, no salads. My wife nearly choked on a fish that was full of bones other guest also commented on the fish being uneatable. The Head waiter had an attitude problem, Spent his time looking after a large tour group other guests were treated as second class and were seated to one side All extras like drinks & snacks also pool towels (a charge) had to be paid in cash. The hotel bar was useless. Our shower was falling to bits. On the positive side it was clean, the location was quite good, and the pool area was pleasant, with a small cafe and pool-bar.

This hotel is fine if you just want somewhere that is clean, ideally located, well run with fine food at a reasonable price. The food was great for a middle-of-the-road 3 star hotel, the location is perfect, the staff were lovely and the room was adequate. On the down side, they wanted 10 euro per night for a travel cot (which we refused to pay) and the average age of the guests was about 60 - although that might vary depend on the time of year. Overall, I'd recommend it.

We spent three nights here in May 2008 and found the hotel to be as advertised. The room was simple and clean and while the hotel is not on the water, our room had a nice view of the bay. The hotel is in an excellent location on Via Capo, just past the hospital and only a couple of minutes stroll to the center of town.
We found the hotel to be a very good value compared to many others we looked at in Sorrento. We did note that most of the hotel guests were considerably older than us (60+) and appeared to be part of an organized British tour group.
The staff at the hotel was very helpful and courteous. We only ate breakfast in the restaurant, and, frankly, we found the breakfast to be sub-par. While there was plenty of food available, the selection was quite limited and was equally bland.
Overall, we felt the hotel met our requirements and would probably return

Stayed at the Villa Maria in March of 2008. This is a great hotel. The rooms are beautiful with wonderful colored floor tiles. The breakfast is outstanding, with a choice of multiple pastries and cakes, as well as two waiters. The only problem is the hotel is a long walk from the train station, but worth it.

Have just returned from a 3 night break in Sorrento and stayed at the Villa Maria. The location of the hotel is excellent, just 200m from the main square and shopping areas are even closer still.
The reception staff spoke excellent English and were always very friendly and accommodating, assisting with any queries that we had.
Breakfasts were adequate (typical Italian breakfast) and the food at dinner was good, although not a very exciting choice.
Rooms were very clean, some with balconies overlooking the sea and they were also a decent size.
Can recommend this as an ideal base for a short stay in Sorrento and if I were to go back, I would certainly stay here again. Only draw back - they do not have any card payment facility but as there are ample cash machines nearby, this was not a problem.
