We stayed here in March and although it is a walk from Desenzo it is well situated for good restuarants and the local buses both into Sirmione and Desenzano-it is an easy walk to the lake.This was one of the best hotels we have stayed in in Italy and the service was superb.It had a very pleasnt pool area which was covered in and had heating so it is possible to sit there at any time of year-we didn't use the pool but I'm sure it would have been possible as it felt warm enough even though it was very cold outdoors.I think they pull the plastic windows back in the summer.The nearby village(5 minutes walk) was very attractive although quiet in March -the advantage in that was within a day we were being greeted in a friendly manner when we walked there. We had one quite good evening meal in the hotel although the nearby restuarants were better.

We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The whole place is immaculate - well looked after as previously stated. There are several excellent restaurants within easy walking distance as well as a bar and restaurant in the hotel (3 courses for 18 euros). The walk to Desenzano is approx 20-30 mins at a leisurely pace and Lake Garda is a 100 yard walk across the road. Superb would go back in a minute.

We booked this hotel on the strength of the reviews but were disappointed. The hotel was described as being across the road from the lake and a pleasant 20 minute walk into town. We had envisaged a pleasant stroll into town along the lakeside. There is no view of the lake from the hotel and it is situated in an urban area on a busy road, a good 30 minutes walk from the town along the busy road. Public transport is poor. On arrival we asked a member of staff if there was a coach trip we could do around the lake and were informed the only way around the lake was by boat getting off at each stop. Just before we left another member of staff produced a leaflet from a drawer with exactly the trip we had wanted but it was then too late to book. The breakfasts were probably the best we have had in Italy and there is an excellent restaurant about 200 yds away on the town side. We would not use this hotel again.

We booked this hotel on the strength of the fantastic reviews on this website and wanted to let you know that nothing has changed. We were very impressed by the hotel in every aspect. Everywhere was very clean, tastefully decorated (no flower prints or cheesey signs!), and the staff were pleased to help. We only dined at the hotel once, preferring to take a walk or go further afield, but the food was fine - €18 for pasta, main course, vegetable buffet and dessert. In fact, we did prefer the short walk to Rossi e Rossi, which was the only restaurant we went back to, but where you eat is a very subjective matter. Desenzano itself (about 25 mins walk away), although one of the larger towns on the lake, seemed to have a disporportionately small number of restaurants comapred to other towns - but there were enough. The only other restaurant in Rivoltella (that we could find) was closed for the week. The bed was quite hard, but we like that! And although the pool was very cold the first time we went in, it was mysteriously much warmer on our return. The sun terrace and jacuzi were great, as was having a shower outside looking over the lake. We had a great stay and would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel.
