We had reservations for three rooms at the Hotel Corot in July 2008. Location is one block from the train station which is very convenient. If I were staying more than one night I would want to be in a much nicer area but it was fine for one night stay.
When we got there our rooms were not available and they took us next door to another hotel that was connected. The place was fine, but the elevator was a little scary. Breakfast was on the fifth floor and was very pleasant.
Tip: I asked to see my room BEFORE checking in and although they were irritated by the request I ended up with a room significantly larger then my other friends that didn't ask to see the room first.
My room was reasonably sized for the price and location, the bathroom was small but clean. The bed was very uncomfortable, I could feel the springs through the mattress.

We recently stayed two nights at the Hotel Corot. The reason we selected this hotel was because of its close proximity to the train termini in Rome. When you depart from your train you make a right out of the station, cross the street and walk less than half a block to your hotel's front door. We arrived at 8 in the morning and our room was available. The hotel staff was pleasant and helped us with our bags into the small elevator to the 3rd floor. Our room was clean, queen bed, TV, safe, mini-bar, hard-wood floors with a large bathroom. It had a walk-in shower, toilet, bidet and sink with a hair dryer, large fluffy towels and plenty of toiletries. The air-conditioner was not on because it was too early in the season but we had a large window and the room stayed very comfortable. There is quite abit of noise from the street below but with the window closed you didn't notice it. The breakfast room was very nice and the choices to eat were great (cereal, sweet-rolls, eggs, hard rolls, fresh fruit, cheese, ham, coffee, latte, tea). I would highly recommend this hotel for the traveler like us staying a couple of extra days in Rome after a cruise or just for a convenient place to stay while in Rome. All the main attractions are close by for walking to or by using some type of transportation. We felt safe and wouldn't hesitate staying here again.

Stayed at Hotel Corot, Rome for three nights as a single traveller. Actually had a single room which was very spacious, clean and the bathroom was modern and clean. Safe deposit box in every room.
Very helpful staff with more than adequate English. Enormous choice for breakfast.
Hotel is no more than 100 yards from the Termini and the drop-off point of the airport buses so is convenient but it is quite a walk to the main Rome tourist area. The 'dodgy' goods sellers outside the hotel were not a problem.

I have just recently stayed there with two friends in a triple room "211" the room was very spacious and the bathroom was very modern. The walls looked damp but I think just needed cleaning. The breakfast at the hotel was very nice and plentyful the red orange juice was gorgeous and the capacinno was too. The tea unfortunately wasnt very nice (probably the water). The lift only hold 3 people max and thank goodness we were on the 2nd floor as you couldnt catch the lift for love nor money when checking out with your suitcase, so had to drag it down the stairs. The staff are very helpful and friendly and booked us a restaurant 'Gusto very nice, and taxi to. The location was very handy although not very in the middle of it all, which I think I wold have preferred as we had to get taxis to and from everywhere. There are people selling dodgy goods outside the hotel but to be honest they never bothered us at all.
All in all I would recommend this hotel for price and quality but not for being in a central location.
