Stayed at the San Moise with my wife a three children (19,17& 15)
in two rooms. Parents room was cosy with a mezzanine floor for the sleeping area. The children's room was simply huge with opulent finishings.Great location, great rooms with that "Venice feel"
Easy to get to from ferry and good access to St Marks and other delights in this area.
Very good value compared to others in this area.
Would stay again.

This hotel is conveniently located near St. Mark's Square. From the airport, we took the Alilaguna to St. Mark's and walked. It's about 4 or 5 blocks. Finding the hotel is a little tricky because it is off the main streets. It is possible to take a water taxi right to the hotel's dock, but apparently that is expensive. We had a very nice room that overlooked the canal and was well traveled by gondoliers in the afternoon. Breakfast was excellent. The desk staff was helpful in suggesting restaurants. The room rate was a little expensive, but apparently that is normal for Venice.

The hotel is in a central location just off San Marco - it's quiet and picturesque although the canal is a popular route for gondola tours. Our so called 'superior' room reeked of stale cigarette smoke which took two days to dissipate. Things got worse -unfortunately there had been a sudden drop in temperature just before we arrived. Although public areas were heated, the bedrooms were not, and that night we froze and as a result slept badly. When challenged the next day as to why the bedrooms were not heated, we were given a variety of explanations by members of staff. We had a sinking feeling that the truth was being avoided so it was a relief when by late evening of the second day the problem was resolved. There was no offer of a reduction on the bill for the considerable inconvenience, and the staff were neither gracious nor friendly. The problem with Venice is repeat business is not an issue - service is not a strong point and prices are outrageous. Despite all that, it is still a magical city.
