Really friendly helpful staff. Nice clean hotel basic but had everything you need. we stayed there so we could catch the train to Venice, just 1 hr 40, 12 euros first class one way, do go first class for the aircon. we left bags and car with hotel for the two days we were in Venice, no problem bags ready for us when we got back.. Can just reiterate friendly, helpful clean, lots of places to eat around.

We spent 3 days at the Principe and were very pleased. It is close to the train station and quite convenient if you have to lug your bags. It was a ways from St Marks Square, but conveniently close to the vaporetta stop so you can easily get anyhwere in Venezia. The breakfast was very well done, the folks at the receptiion were very helpful and spoke English fluently. Internet is available for a fee. At first I was concerned we weren't closer to the action in and aroound St Marks but actually enjoyed hopping on the vaporetta and cruising the canals. I would recommend getting a multi day vaporetta pass if you stay here as you will most likely be using it a lot and each trip is Euro 6.50.

This hotel is across the road from the train station in Udine so perfect if you want to catch the train into Venice (approx 2 hours).
The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel was clean and breakfast was basic but perfect for a small hotel.
The room was small and the bed comfy.
Great overall stay and we would definitely stay again.
Just one little tip: We were in Udine visiting Italian friends and they did mention that around the train station area at night you need to be a little careful - we did not see any signs of danger but I suppose its like the area around most railway stations.

The HotelPrincipe is easy (a relaive term in italy) to find. Follow the signs for Stazione or Statzione FS. The Principe is well marked out on the street right across from the station. You turn down a small alley under their marqeee and enter their parking area. (off street parking is rare) the staff is very helpful and most are multilingual. the rooms are clean and wireless is 3 euro a day. flat panel teevee with at least one english channel. Udine is a great little town after the frentic pace of Venezia and firenze, Great restaurant across the city center from the hotel maria recommended it1) was fantastic, if a bit of a walk. beds are comfy *YMMV) rooms clean, and showers tiny, same as the rest of italy I find. If you are a typical blimpo american you will not fit in these showers. bella italia!
Fantastica Udine

Bella Italia!
