this place is nothing short of hilarious, it appears that not a scrap of maintanence has been done since it was built in the 70s, we only stayed one night and the room did the job for that, but it was the worst and also most expensive place we stayed in in the whole of Slovakia... the room stank of smoke and a large illuminated advert lit up the room beautifully throughout the night. the lifts were seriously alarming... I could go on, this place is like some relic from the past, I wish I had taken pictures to share the hilarity with those back home. The check in staff were very polite and spoke good english, this and its proximity to town were the only plus sides to this tired place.

I went to the hotel with low expectations, and not even those could be met. Our 'queen room' had two twin beds side by side, separated by a wooden plank. The 'shower' was a bathtub with a shower hose attached to the faucet, so you had to hold it the whole time to take a shower--there isn't enough money in the world to make me sit in that tub. Our curtains didn't even come close to covering the window, so at 6am, the room was too bright to sleep. However, the windows filter out very little of the street noise, so the light was almost a secondary problem. The hotel elevator is rickety and takes a very long time. Our toilet didn't function properly and we had to turn off the water valve to get it to be quiet for the night.
On a positive note, this hotel is only a 5 minute walk from Old Town, it features a very good free breakfast, and the front desk staff is very helpful and were always friendly. It would have been a good room for $30 a night, but at the $95 we paid...it was very overpriced.
It is a 20 Euro cab ride from the airport, but you can take the tram to old town and walk a few minutes to the hotel, and it will cost you much less.

I was there for a stag weekend. It is clear that they put stag groups on the floors that have not been refurbed since the days of Communism. The rooms are basic, old and pretty rough. I will say one thing, the bedding was clean and it suited our purpose. The breakfast is cracking and is a chance to stock up on the carbs. I am sure there are cheaper places in Brat that would be a similar standard, check out other reviews before you book.

This hotel is one of worst i've stayed in. Everything from the reception to the rooms is appalling. The bathrooms are a joke, and we had a group of 6 booked rooms!! not one had a clean or perfect bathroom. Their was toilets leaking, holes in the shower hoses, really bad smells, and the toilets not flushing.
We were on a stag, and even then am not satisfied with the hotel. Would never recommend to anyone. Even the barman told us they had mice where the drinks were stored.

Even if many reviews were negative, I've chosen this hotel because of its very central location and price. The first impact with the hall has been impressive, a large room with some taste of ancient, fascinating. The staff was nice and helpful. Once in the room here there are the problems: smell from the moquette, very old furnitures and toilet facilities the main complaints. There's the TV but it is on the floor, beside the bed... It was already hot outside but there was still the winter lining on the bed, so sleeping was like having a sauna. Having a shower is not relaxing because there's no box and it's very easy to transform the floor in a lake. Also I have to say that the cleanliness was good, except for the smell from the moquette. Breakfast (from 6 to 10 a.m.) is in the average, the choice is wide and the food tastes good.
Well, this seemed to be the hotel for everybody: singles, couples, groups and also a rugby team were all sleeping at the Kyjev. Probably it was founded with this purpose and they really goaled. If you have to spend 1 or 2 nights in Bratislava this is a convenient choice. Otherwise is better to find another location.
