I stayed at the Hyatt Union Station 3 days recently for a business meeting. I do not know what the room rate was, as it was booked and paid for by the business organization. However, there were a lot of extra fees beyond the room that others have mentioned - namely the parking and internet access. The internet access wasn't reliable and on one of the days I purchased it, I wasn't able to get online for most of the afternoon. Others said the front desk gave credits for that when asked, but I forgot to do that at check out and didn't want to hassle with it later. As others have written, the hotel has an interesting history, and I would definitely recommend that you watch the history clip on the room TVs that show the renovation of the building from a train station to its present day appearance. The building had a lot of interesting historical touches, and I enjoyed exploring them. The lobby is absolutely gorgeous. The room was comfortable. However, everything was quite inconvenient. I had to constantly go up and down stairs or find obscure elevators with my luggage. Because the hotel is on both sides of the mall, it required going through locked gates to get to the rooms that were off limits to shoppers. The parking is not close by. Valet parking was backed up when I arrived, so I used the self-park and had to haul luggage across a brick street and through the mall to get to the front desk. It was confusing trying to find the front desk when coming in the back way from the parking lot, and I had to ask the security guards for help. It was a little spooky coming in late also. The hotel restaurant's food was fine, but expensive. There are some other restaurant choices in Union Station, but I thought they were somewhat limited. Don't go to the Mexican restaurant next to the mall by the parking lot - it's a smoky dive and had terrible food! Shopping is really for tourists and nothing that interesting, other than the Cardinals store! Overall, it was OK, but I would not stay there again, as I think there are more comfortable locations for the price.

This was a happy surpise to get through Hotwire for $99 a night! The hotel is beautiful. The lobby building is an attraction in itself. There is so much history in why it was restored--we didn't see they offer tours until we were leaving. If you have any interest in trains or local history, I would definitely find out more. The desk staff was very welcoming and attentive.
The room areas are connected to the main building along with a mall. The parking isn't very close, but we had no problem at all with the bit of a walk (it's actually pretty).
The rooms were wonderful. Typical high end Hyatt comfort and amenities. The pool was a great size and very pretty.

We stayed at the Hyatt 6/13-6/15 and were very pleased with the experience. We parked across the street, at $14 per night, but it's a short walk through the mall to the front desk.
We walked to Busch Stadium, about 10 blocks, and felt completely safe even though it was an evening game. The Arch was several blocks farther, so we drove there, though walking was feasible.
We enjoyed having the mall right there. We went to Starbucks, the bagel shop, Hard Rock Cafe, and Landry's Seafood, as well as several touristy shops. We were surprised at the number of people shopping, most of whom appeared to be tourists. The Metrolink has a stop right by the hotel, which is very convenient, also.
Our room was easy to get to, and had a view looking into the mall. Everything was clean, and staff were very pleasant.
We would stay at this hotel again when visiting St. Louis.

Wanted the Millenium (3 star) on Priceline, but Priceline "Upgraded" me without asking to a 4 star Hyatt (at Union Station). Fourth star means you pay more for amenities. Although the price was good on Priceline - $50 - there was a charge for parking (understandable in a city) and INTERNET ACCESS!! ($10). I haven't paid for Internet Access in about 10 years! Even the Motel 6, Super 8s, etc. have FREE WIRELESS. $10 per day is outrageous and archaic. So my $50 room is now $80 with parking, which Priceline did not include, and Internet. Not feeling like taking the car out of the parking lot, I ordered room service for an evening snack. Lobster Bisque (about $10) and an Creme Brulee sampler (also about $10). The soup was about 1/4 inch covering the bottom of the bowl - literally one sweep with the spoon revealed the china bottom of the bowl. And each Creme Brulee was less than a tablespoon. Good news - kept me on my diet. I stay at hotels about 100 nights a year, and have found the more stars a hotel has, the more inconvenient (LOOOONG walk from check in to room) and pricey they are, and the more apt they are to charge for every amenity other hotels throw in for free. If you stay here, have them outline ALL the extra fees up front. If you purchase via priceline, be prepared to pay 50%-75% OVER the stated price, BEFORE taxes, etc.
