Returning to Bangkok with so many excellent hotels I decided this time to try the Grand Hyatt. I booked my airport pickup ($85.00 US one-way) using the hotels e-online concierge service. I was met outside of customs by door six by a charming young man holding my name. I was quickly escorted outside to my waiting Mercedes E- class sedan. The driver had ice-cold water and cold towels available for my use. The trip at midnight took a little over twenty-two minutes door to door. Check in was painless and quick. I was soon relaxing in my room on the sixteenth floor. One of three designated as “Hyatt Club Floors”
My room was a club king room with typical Thai d?cor. The room was in good shape with everything in working order. I particular liked the two small controls on either side of the bed. You controlled everything in the room from this little box. You could set temperature to a low of 17C or a high of 23C. There was one master button that shut every light off. The bed was a king and quite comfortable no complaints. Housekeeping cleaned your room three times a day. This came in handy when I stayed out late in Bangkok and did not get up until afternoon. The bathroom was not huge but not small. Separate tub from the shower with a nice sink area. Overall I was pleased with the club floor room I had booked.
The club lounge in on the seventh floor and serves breakfast and evening cocktails with snacks. The lounge itself is quite large with ample seating. Breakfast consisted of both cold and one Asian hot item. I would say its mostly a continental type with a few added items. If you wanted eggs or anything one would see in a typical western buffet you needed to go downstairs to the main lobby restaurant. That was the one thing I did not like about the lounge. I have stayed at other hotels in Bangkok and they have hot breakfast food served in club lounges. Evening cocktails start at 530PM to 730PM with a nice spread of finger foods. If you’re a smoker there is a room across from main lounge and the very nice Thai attendants will serve you there also. Overall the lounge is fine with the evening being the better selection of food. The Thai girls who attend to your every need were top notch.
The hotels spa and pool are nice. The hotel has a very nice gym and juice bar on the fifth floor. The gym itself sells memberships outside the hotel but as a guest you get complimentary use of everything. The gym area has everything from a large selection of free weights to machines. Every treadmill and bike has TV/Cable you can hook into. Water is available for free as are towels. When you are done working out head over to your respective male or female locker room. Inside you could relax in the large Jacuzzi or sit in the steam room. If steam is not your thing then try the dry sauna. They locker room had six very large well-equipped showers when you were finally ready to get dressed. There are two Thai attendants ready to hand you a towel or get anything you need. Overall one of the better hotel gyms and locker room I have ever used.
On another day I booked a half-day spa package. I won’t go into to many details but the day was very relaxing. The Spa is just down the hall from the locker rooms. A very nice Thai female will escort you to the cottages outside for your full treatment or whatever you booked.
The outside pool is nice with ample seating to go around. The pool attendants will assist to your every need. The pool itself is not deeper then 5 feet. I had lunch by the pool and it was very good. Some hotel pools in Bangkok are blocked out late in the day of sun by other buildings, but the Grand Hyatt is not one of them. You can enjoy full day sun.
The location of the Grand Hyatt is near major shopping. The hotel itself is next to the sky train, which you can access from the hotel. The Four Seasons hotel and the Intercontinental are very close and within walking distance. Not a whole lot to add about the location except again if you’re a shopper this is the hotel to stay at. The hotels restaurants were good. There is a very nice relaxing wine and champagne bar in the bottom of the hotel. Adjacent to that is a cigar room with no less then 100 kinds of scotch from around the world. Cuban cigars and 30-year-old scotch make for a nice way to end a night in Bangkok.
Overall I have no complaints on the Grant Hyatt. The hotel and staff met my expectations but most hotels in Bangkok do. You certainly cannot go wrong by choosing this hotel over others. If cost were no factor I would highly recommend using the hotels airport service. They were prompt well mannered and the brand new E-class Mercedes rides like a dream. If anyone has questions about this hotel or Bangkok please just E-mail me.
Cheers!

We've stayed at the Hyatt Erawan many times over many years - it consistently delivers great service.
The hotel facilities are good, the food & restaurants (all of them) are great & relatively well priced for a big business hotel.
The spa is also very good, although it is quite expensive for Bangkok. The pool area is also lovely.
The rooms are what you'd expect in a business hotel; although a couple of times we've been caught out with king singles - the tip is to specify a king size bed when you book.
The location is great - very central for all shopping & near the sky train for easy transport all around BKK.
Concierge is very good, and has a list of restaurants & spa's and will willingly book for you. Although the limousine to the airport is prohibitively expensive - so only do this on a business account!
The meeting facilities - especially in the 'Residence' are first-class - the food you get here when you have a meeting is not only plentiful, but also very, very tasty. be prepared to put on a few kilos during your stay.

I have been staying at this hotel for the past 6 trips to Bangkok. It has everything, great food, great location, great service, great night life, great car service from the airport and best of all a great staff. Everyone I have met over the past few years is still working at the hotel…its truly incredible the small amount of turn over in the executive floor staff. I will stay at no other hotel in Bangkok. The location is right next to the sky train, it’s the only way to get around Bangkok. Let me give you an example of there service…on my trip before last my laptop came up with the blue screen of death on day one of a fourteen day trip through Asia. After consulting with our IT at home in the US it was determined the computer was dead. I took the laptop to the concierge desk and simply asked for help. The packed the laptop, shipped it back to my company and directed me to three computer stores to look for a replacement. It was a bit confusing and I was not comfortable with the deals I was seeing…upon hearing of my concerns one of the staff accompanied me to the store, after she got off work, and negotiated me a great deal on a new laptop…much better than I could have received. These folks will go the extra mile for you!
