Not bad, but overpriced

I stayed here while on business trip to Almaty.
Not a bad hotel, but not great.
The hotel in general is overpriced for the quality of services provided.
The "Grill" restaurant provides a very average food, but is quite expensive.
The breakfast is not to 5star standard either.
As already mentioned in the other reviews, location is not the best , as it is outside the city, and there aren't many restaurants or bars around. So one will need a taxi.
The only close by restaurant is "Tubeteyka", which is 3 minutes walk, the food is not bad and they accept credit cards.
The positive side is swimming pool and spa facility, really good.
Would recommend for Business trips, but will not recommend if you are travelling on leasure though.

Extremely overprice. Staff enjoys to say 'No'. I've stayed in this hotel over 20 times during last 6 years. Staff's English level very poor. Room service very limited. Internet extremely slow during the day, yet outrageously expensive. TV sets are from early 90s. The hotel has the best pool in Almaty. If you are not a pool lover, go to InterContinental. It's time the Hyatt renovates the hotel or takes its name down.

Stayed here while on business in Almaty. Not a bad hotel, but not great. Best choice for Almaty. Location is not great, as it is outside the city, and you require a taxi. Most of the staff speak some level of english.

Every time in Almaty I stay in Hyatt. Western standards and a nice breakfast are the basic reasons for that.... and: There is no real alternative in Almaty. Thats why I have to accept the overpricing, off course.
There is only one negative points: Always I have to wait in a queue when checking or out.
But in comparison to all other hotels in Almaty is it acceptable. No phone calls of prostitutes at 2 a.m., clean and spacy rooms .

Spent a couple of days during a business trip to Almaty. Booking throuhg the websites are extremely expensive so we used our local contact and a local agency. The price ended at 37.000 KZT + tax incl breakfast ( thats a whopping 350USD a night ) .
I had a requested a non-smoking room which I did not get at all. Ended up in a room facing 2 towers ( a building site) 20m from the hotel. No sky to be seen. Furthermore the tempeture outside was -25C and the heating in the room was busted , and the carpet was filled with old cigarr. Did I like it - nope, so I complained but they said they were sold out. Slept in a cold room that night at 350USD - no compensation. Complained in the morning and asked to be moved - came back after my meeting. Nothing - still in the same room. After some arguments 2 times I managed to move room. The food served in the hotel patio was good , and pricerange still OK - in general I got the feeling , the rule is - Rip them off. There are also taxidrivers connected to he hotel . You have to pay them in cash at 3 -4 times the price. Would I recommend this hotel - not really and if only if you have to. The location is off the town and you dont have choices of restaurants either. My friends used the spa and said it was nice - but thats all. Dont expect Hyatt standard at all !! This is 3 star
