Tokyo was overwhelming before I even got there as I tried to figure out all the different neighborhoods. I do suggest Shinjuku where this Hyatt is located. Its a quick walk, or free shuttle ride, to the main Station. From there you can shop, eat and/or jump on a train to explore the rest of the city.
As for the Hotel-well, its in need of a facelift. There wasn't anything wrong with the rooms - I enjoyed the space and views to the East. But the lobby is an un-spectacular atrium with fake ivy. The Regency Club Breakfast room should be an embarassment to Hyatt - a small room with furniture from the 1980s. Not what you'd expect out of a Hyatt in a major, metropolitan, cutting edge city like Tokyo.

I stayed here while on business for 7 days. It was my first trip to Japan, so I was glad to stay in an American chain for a bit of familiarity. The hotel is very large and suprisingly the room was quite large as well. I have had much smaller rooms in NY or Europe. The hotel staff was very hospitable and friendly, even when asking my coworker and I to move to an office just off the main lobby so that we could continue eating the little cakes we just got at the bakery. Note - although you can buy little cakes in the bakery off the lobby, they don't intend for you to eat them there.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience - not visually stunning or luxurious by any means, but definitely comfortable.

One of the best and most convenient perks of this hotel was their shuttle service from Shinjuku Station which is one of if not the busiest station in Tokyo. You can pretty much get anywhere from this station. We did find it a little bit difficult to find the bus stop of the shuttle so here's a few tips; From Shinjuku station, make your way to Okakyu Department store which is on the West Exit. Once you exit, you'll see another department store called Keio across the road. You'll find the bus stop infront of the street level entrance. The shuttle to the hotel leaves Shinjuku station every 20mins (10, 30, 50 every hour up from 8:10am - 9:50pm). Make sure you're on time!!
Like most other people we were "WOW'd" by the chandeliers in the lobby!! They really are amazing!!
Thanks heaps to the other reviewers that suggested signing up to the hotel membership. We were able to have breakfast every morning! :)
As for the hotel itself.. the service was great! All the staff were so helpful. The room was clean and as expected facilities were top notch!! The location is great especially if you're not so into staying right in the middle of all the hustle and bustle but want to still be close enough to experience it.
We had drinks one night at the hotel bar - again service was great!!
I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel!!

We recently visited the Hyatt Regency in Tokyo for 3 nights and i must say i wasnt overly impressed. We had just come from the Hyatt Regency in Kyoto and it was not in the same class (see Kyoto review- thoroughly enjoyed it!). Nonetheless, the staff were reasonably friendly, the location quiet and fairly convenient. The bathroom was a bit small and the decor in the room needs an update. Overall, there was nothing particularly wrong with this hotel, but nothing 'stand out' either.
