Please don't bother with this place. We booked only to find out they had cancelled our reservation. Apparently they do this often.
Staff were exceptionally RUDE
You book your room for $350/night. Someone else shows up at the hotel offering $500. They cancel your room and give it to the higher paying guest.

We stayed at Intercontinental 3 times during our Visit to India during December 06/ January 07. I am a little late on adding my review for this hotel, but thought I’d share my experience, as I can see that the hotel hasn’t changed its way’s even after a year and a half!
The hotel is quite spectacular. When you walk into the hotel it has an ambience of being in a mall. It is fully tiled and has couple of restaurants, area to use free internet (which is not operational most of the time), and has a very clean toilet (on the ground floor) to use if your in the reception area. It also has a pool and a spa area which you have to go to the basement to use.
The rooms itself have a king bed (on request) and is furnished with a LCD TV. The beds are luxurious and very comfy & the room is very well cleaned. All in all this hotel meets 5 star service for the room quality / food & service provided by bell boys.
Now onto the things that we were not happy with:
Their reception staff is not very helpful. We had a special offer which we snapped up via the internet and upon arrival they would not honour the rate we were offered. This took us over an hour to resolve on two of the occasions. On both occasions we had to speak with the manager who was far worse then the person behind the reception counter…
The hotel does not seem to pickup airport transfer requests when making a reservation over the internet. On both occasions we had to call them from the airport as the shuttle hadn’t arrived – and upon informing them we had arranged this their answer on both occasions was that it was not recorded in their system..
I wouldn’t recommend to use the taxis just outside the gate of this hotel – they are complete rip offs. Once we were quoted 800 rupees for a ride to juhu (JW Marriot), where we said no to them and walked 20 odd metres and caught a rickshaw which from memory ended up being less then 100 rupees
Apart from the service quality of the staff (particularly the manager) the hotel is exceptional. It is a nice retreat from the hectic life of Mumbai. I would def recommend this hotel to others (my finace’ loved this hotel – the room / bed & showers) – but would warn them to double check their reservations before arriving in Mumbai. You are paying top dollar for a room and honestly this hotel needs to really do something about the people they employ.

Stayed at hotel for one night on the way back to Singapore, the check in staff very polite we asked about a late check out the next day as our flight was late in the evening they were extremely helpful said that we could check out at 4.00 without having to pay the late check out fees(all without prompting or pleading from us)
The room and bathroom very big, clean and functional very average nothing spectacular but also nothing to dislike. The bed however was hugh and very comfortable.I was a little annoyed to be woken by housekeeping at 9.00 and again at 9.30 on a sunday morning. We had breakfast at the restaurant which was extremely busy but service was good and there was a reasonable choice of dishes. We spent most of Sunday at the pool which was clean but there was a lot of noise from traffic nearby. There was no service at the pool my husband went twice to ask about ordering drinks only to be told that there should be someone there,i noticed some of the other guests were having the same trouble.A waiter did eventually turn up delivered our drink order and then disappeared.
I did not check reviews before going as hotel was booked for us and am thankful as probably wouldn't have booked if i had read all the negative reviews before going.Overall we had a good experience, some small problems but not enough to discourage us from returning

We Were Assaulted Outside This Hotel

This is a dangerous place to stay, and the hotel staff was careless, rude and negligent, and completely ignored our safety. Here's what happened:
Upon checking out of the hotel (The Intercontinental Grand Mumbai at the Airport), the hotel staff refused to help me get a taxi, despite my repeated requests for one (which was shocking to say the least, given that we paid over $200 US for the room.) As a result my girlfriend and I had to go outside about 100 meters with our bags to get one ourselves, where we were physically threatened by a group of taxi men just 10 meters outside the gate. About 8 guys approached me, threatened me and surrounded the taxi, blocking the doors so my girlfriend could not get out. I had no choice but to agree to their demand to raise the price and we got out of there, but not without a good deal of shock and concern for our safety.
The hotel staff did not help us when this occurred. In fact, they were shockingly rude and did not show any concern whatsoever that we were accosted. Worse, they were not just negligent, but greedy as well, as they tried to upsell us to a hotel car that cost over 5000 rupees instead of the 800 rupees standard for a taxi. (I'm willing to pay more for a nicer car, but that's practically extortion.) They obviously knew we would have hassles with the taxi men -- they showed absolutely no surprise that they accosted us, and no remorse for not helping -- and therefore decided to make money off of us by trying to get us to take a company car for an absurd amount of money.
The debacle and harassment took up over an hour of our first day in India, wasted our valuable time on our business trip, made us feel concerned for our safety and was a rude and shocking introduction to what we otherwise found to be a lovely country. In short, our experience was the only dangerous and unsettling experience of our entire 2 and a half weeks in India.
How stunning and abhorrent, especially for a company that claims to be one of the world's leading hotels. Because even the manager was no help in this situation (but rather exacerbated it) I wrote directly to the Intercontinental Hotel Group to complain. They didn't do a thing. They showed absolutely no attempt to rectify the situation, so I'm taking to the internet to make sure other people don't stay there and wind up in the same position we did.
Do not stay at this hotel. And for that matter, don't expect the Intercontinental Hotel Group to show any concern for your personal safety, because their customer service department obviously doesn't.
