The hotel is amazing, and very large, I would dare to say, the best in Taba Heights. The location is in the middle of nowhere, but this does not matter at all as there are five luxury hotels on the beach which you can enter, but obviously not part of the all inclusive from our hotel. There is also a small town with places to eat, however the town is a ghost town set up purely for the guests of the five hotels. There is also a dive centre in the location, which we did not use, but heard mixed reports about. You will be glad you booked with a travel agent as security is a major issue in egypt, especially around large resorts. We arrived in a miltary airport, went through many armed guard check points. Taba Heights resort itself has a armed and patroled boundary, and the hotels have armed guards too. The way to look upon it is that the security is there for tourists protection, so you are safe. The resort has amazing views of mountain areas and the red sea, which on clear days you can see Jordan. However the sand is imported, otherwise it would be course red rubble. For trips the location is brillant. We visited the pyarmids (which are really close to Cario town, not in the middle of the dessert), Jerusalem, (which boarder control is very very tight, we got stopped for hours with our passports taken away), and Petra is accross the sea, (the scene from the Indian Jones film where he rides away on horseback). The people in Taba Heights are lovely, but be warned that Egyptians outside the resort are not! They will grab you bags, carry them for you, but expect money if you want them back. Touch anything for sale, (even so called gifts), and you will soon find a mob demanding money as you have in their culture bought it. Do not go for camel rides without a tour guide saying it is ok, or they will demand money to let you down. And hold onto you wifes, one egyptian tried to buy mine off of me, and not for a fair price either! With all this in mind, do not be afraid at all around Taba resort, as you are safe. Outside of the resort, only go with tour guides and stay close to them. This is a trip in a life time, with amazing views, a beautiful location and historic sights. But seasoned travellers only.

Just returned from Intercontinental, Taba. Great experience if you like hot weather 38 in the shade last Monday. The one down side, if you travel with Monarch from Gatwick , is the angle of seats and and leg room. Worth upgrading for US$48 each way. The rooms are spacious and well furnished, don't use the mini bar or the in room telephone unless you are really, seriously rich. E mail from the business centre is US$9 per hour. Many people were caught out by the restaurant dress code, long trousers only for men. The food, considering the number of people being catered for is excellent and the waiting staff are really efficient and friendly. Well worth All Inclusive, quality of local drinks is acceptable. The Golf course was great fun, a good challenge and well maintained but at this time of the year don't consider playing before 17.00hrs unless you are a mad dog or possibly English. There are plenty of tours and water sports available at a reasonable cost. Finally, the airport. Perched on the top of a mountain the journey to the resort is through the mountain range down to sea level, security at all Hotels is high but not intrusive. Try not to use the Airport toilets, they are discusting. Taba Heights has very little entertainment outside of the Hotels, so don't expect a hive of evening activity and night clubbing into the wee hours, it won't happen. Well worth the experience, it my third time in Taba in six years and is great value for money. I traveled with Longwood Holidays who looked after us very well.

Thomson Holidays gave us a good deal for a week all inclusive at this 5* hotel in Taba Heights. The area looked better on the taba heights web page. I thought it would be an upmarket new resort similar to Marbella and that it would be finished, but it wasnt like that. Taba Heights is just a few big hotels, a dive centre, and a few shops which you can only reach by taking an open sided bus which wasnt very comfortable and some of the paths etc. were not finished. However, we still had a lovely time. The hotel was large, spacious, brand new, clean, beautiful, lots of beautiful flowers and very worthy of its 5* status. The room was very nice with mini bar, spacious balcony with amazing view of pool, beach, Saudi land in the distance! The food was amazing and very abundant. There was one big table for bread alone. The staff were mostly lovely. There were a few young lads who were cheeky though. As a woman, I did feel a bit of a second class citizen at times. The entertainemnt was great. The hubbly bubbly pipe was passed around, bean bags to sit or lie on whilst a band played or a belly dancer danced. The shows were very good. The spa was good too. The packages were not too expensive either. My partner and I both had body scrub and mask then massage for ?50 all in. They presumed we were married and let us have our massages in the same room. When my lady told me to take off my top I was shy but she said 'its only your husband.' I took my top off then said 'hes not my husband.' You should have seen her face! We went on a day trip to Cairo by air. On the Thomson website it says the day is 0900-1700. Be warned this is a long day! We were picked up at 0500 and dropped back at 2100, knackered. It was worth it though. We saw The Pyramids, a lovely gallery, The National Museum, had lunch on a floating restaurant on the Nile and had an excellent guide. Well worth it. We got some amazing photos at the Pyramids. I would highly recommend this hotel if you want a 5* hotel in a hot country and all inclusive but not expensive. If you dont like it too hot, go in November like we did. It was 80 degrees and sunny every day. Perfect!
