I travel Hwy. 78 between Birmingham and Memphis almost weekly. On the occasions I have to stay over in the Mississippi area, I will not stay anywhere else except the Hampton Inn Tupelo - even though there are newer hotels in the city. That staff makes all the diference in the world! I have never seen a single one not smiling and welcoming guests - and with their recent renovations, the rooms are as nice as any you will find in the area. If you are visiting the area, cruisng the Natchez Trace Parkway, or just need a place to rest in north Mississippi, I highly recommend it.

I stayed on a Friday night this April. The room was comfortable and well apportioned. The only problem I had was no sleep between 11pm and 3am. A large crowd of teenagers gathered in the parking lot playing loud music and running up and down the hotel stairs . It appears that parking lot is a weekend hangout.

We stayed at this hotel because of a family wedding. It was very nice having a large room to prepare ourselves for a long weekend. We were able to have a room in a different building away from the office.
The only downside I saw were that the rooms connected to the office were all facing outside. (no main hallway)
The hotel was clean and well maintained. Breakfast was OK. Very comfortable beds... better than my in-laws house. ;)

I arrived after a 7 hour drive in the dark with my young son and nephew to visit family. I was pleased with the appearance of the exterior AND the interior of the property, however.......the clerk on duty,(Kevin), was very rude and had NO people/customer skills at all. He greeted me with a terse, tongue in cheek, "how may I help you?" I told him I needed to check-in and he came around the desk and proceeded with the check-in as if I were a BOTHER to him. As I stood there, the phone rang and he answered the phone and placed the caller on hold with the SAME tone of voice and expression on his face that he had with me, disgusted and irritated. Had it not been so late in the day, I would have surely walked out and booked another motel. I have stayed at many Hampton Inn's/suites all over the country and have NEVER been greeted like this before. I am a reasonable man and do NOT expect anyone to bow down to me, but GEEEE, just a LITTLE bit of respect and gratitude toward the person paying your salary would have been nice after a long ride to an unfamiliar area.
