Hampton was All Good

This is a clean and well-run hotel that is very convenient to the University of Alabama campus. The best feature is the free gym pass you get as a guest there -- you can work out for free at a really nice gym about 5 minutes down the road. Much better than those horrible hotel workout areas. The second best feature was the card on the bed that said that all of the bed linens, including the comforter, were washed in between guests. The comforter was a little lumpy and looked it had indeed been washed a few times but that's soooo much nicer than those cheesy plastic comforters that get washed once a year that most hotels use.
Breakfast was fine -- the coffee was above average. My main complaint was that the eggs had bits of ham in them, thus making them inedible to people that don't eat meat. The second day, there was no ham in the eggs, so maybe this isn't a regular thing.
The front desk staff was very helpful about providing directions to local restaurants etc.

Clean rooms... quiet hotel.
Front desk very helpful with adjoining rooms and baby crib. Decent breakfast...typical Hampton inn fare. Will return because it's easy on budget, and convenient access to T-town highways.

we were staying one night. when we checked in at midnight we asked the clerk what the smell was in the air. he told us there was a steel plant nearby. it was too late for us to find anywhere else to stay, but we had respiratory problems, burning eyes, and nausea from the fumes in the air. we didn't sleep all night and i called the manager in the morning. she said the steel plant does something every 2-3 months that causes it and they never know when it will be. she did not charge us for our room.

We will definitley stay at this hotel again. It was close to the university, had a great breakfast, comfortable bed, friendly staff and it was clean. The entrance was hard to find and we think they need refrigerators in the rooms but it will definitley be our first choice next time we visit.
