Great location for walking to Alamo and River

For the price, it is great to be near the river walk and Alamo without being on the river. The beds were good and the noise level was suprisingly good since it is so near the main hiway. The breakfast was good to save a little money and get the kids by until lunch. I would stay here again. I recently stayed at a hotel on the river and I would definately choose this one first!!! In fact, I have reservations at this hotel again in November.

I'll be brief; We had 2 rooms. Room 215 had a broken ironing board that I requested 2 days in a row be replaced. It never happened. The 2nd room, I think was 202 and there was something wrong with the ac. Everything in the room felt damp. Ok are you ready. Upon waking up with something tangled around my leg, I reached down to see what it was. A lady's pair of underwear that was caught in the corner of the sheets. There was no lady staying in my room and no I didn't have one over either. Upon check out I took the underwear in a plastic bag to the front desk and gave it the a short haired blonde lady. She said, O I'm sorry I'll let housekeeping know. I couldn't believe this. She made it seem as though she wan't surprised. And what about their 100% guarntee. It was not offered. If I find someones panties in my bed I better remember what happened.

My husband and I stayed here three nights over the July 4th weekend. We weren't sure if we should spend a little more and stay on the Riverwalk or use our Hilton Honor points and stay at Hampton Inn a couple blocks away. We chose to use our points. We were not disappointed. The walk to the Alamo and the Riverwalk was very short. We enjoyed the free parking (right across the street was a parking lot for $6 I believe). Enjoyed the free breakfast (although it was SUPER CROWDED being a holiday weekend and all). Our AC unit in the room was pretty loud. The room felt sticky like it needed a dehumidifier (maybe that was due to all the rain the area was getting while we were there). The front desk was super helpful when we had questions. I would definitely recommend this hotel if trying to save some money by not staying right on the Riverwalk but wanting to be close.

This was a vacation using points. As soon as I walked into reception, I knew the hotel was going to disappoint me. I was a little early for the normal check in time yet they accommodated me.
The foyer had portable fans running on the floor. Never figured why this was. Got up to the room and it was located next to the elevator, not good. The door lock was difficult to open and stayed this way until we left. We discovered the room was facing the Interstate, and traffic noise was heard all the time, especially late at night, we also heard railroad locomotive horns all the time.
The room tended towards dingy and in need of an upgrade. We thought the best was to get out and discover the City.
OK, so the hotel is not on the River walk, but at least a 5 to 7 minute walk. Our first visit was the Alamo (5 minute walk) and we were not disappointed. We then made our way to the River walk and it was fantastic. Not being on the actual River walk is a doubled edged sword as I think it could be noisy until the early hours of the morning. The Tower of the Americas is also a good destination.
Back to the hotel, the bed was comfortable and the air conditioner worked fine (the first night only). We had breakfast at around 8:30 and it was chaos. The dining room is too small and the staff takes a long time to clean up. The food quality was not up to Hampton Inn standards.
The second day was spent discovering San Antonio and it was well worth the effort.
The second night the Air conditioner broke around 10PM; however we did not contact the front desk to fix it.
The next morning we woke up early to leave for Houston and discovered that early breakfast is the key as you dine with the business travelers, which seem to be in the minority as this is more a vacation hotel. We did not utilize the pool although it did look inviting.
Overall the stay was OK, although it would not be my first choice for this area again.
Checkout was quick and the staff overall are very friendly.
