I stay at Hamptons a lot and this is slightly below par. It is more of a place for a cheap beach weekend than for the business traveler. Room was noisy from road traffic, airplanes and the TV next door. One of the floor length mirrors in the room had large cracks in it and was not fixed during the week I was there.

The Hampton Inn is definetly in the area where you want to be. It is near shopping (Prime Outlet Mall to Wal Mart) and numerous restaurants of all varieties and budgets. The room was nice, nothing extravagant. They have an outdoor pool and a decent hot breakfast in the morning. It was convient to get to from I-12. However it was a little hard to get to if you were coming from downtown. You had to cross six lanes of traffic to get to the hotel, however if you turn by the Prime Outlets and follow the back way into ther Best Western it will get you there. The rooms could probably used to be updated but they weren't bad. I was there 5 nights and saw two cockroaches in room, not bad. The staff was generally very friendly. We drove 14 hours and they let us checkin at 10 AM when we arrrived.

This is a standard Hampton Inn right on Hwy 49 about .25 mile from the airport road entrance. It's typical Hampton Inn quality, except maybe a little older than others, it has exterior entrances to the room, but it has elevators which is good when you have luggage. The room is clean, the internet works great, and there are no suprises here. Hampton Inns don't have restaurants or frills, but they have quality rooms, bedding, and towels. There is a Wendy's next door, and is near everything else you might need.

I have stayed in hundreds of hotels working construction in the United States and abroad. Usually I'm in the same hotel weeks at a time and when I know I'm leaving the next day the staff has always let me check out the night before. This hotel was not willing to let me do this. Instead I had to get up extra early to go through this process (which I was leaving at 5 a.m. anyway.) The staff was very unfriendly and not helpful in anyway. You are just a number to them. I paid $850.00 a week to stay in this place and they couldn't even do me a favor by letting me check out the night before to save me time. Because of the devastation to this community they can charge any amount and people will pay just to have a place to sleep. The entire stay was a nighmare.

I recently stayed at the Hampton Inn in Gulfport, MS on a beautfiul weekend in May. Upon arrival to the hotel, I was excited to have booked the jacuzzi suite for $139.00 (US dollars) especially since I was arriving late in the evening. My excitement soon faded at 1:00 AM when I attempted to use the jacuzzi located by the king-size bed in the room. The water was warm but the jets were not functioning as they should, so I attempted to contact the front desk but the phones in the room were dead, and I had to use my cell phone to contact the front desk. I informed the front desk clerk of my problem with the jacuzzi and the phone, and she stated that a power surge had taken out the phones but that I could come get a key to a new room so that I would have a functioning jacuzzi. I did do this, and moved from room 138 to room 338 only to find even bigger problems in this room at a little after 1:00 AM in the morning. The jacuzzi in this room had a large amount of pubic hair stuck to the jacuzzi filter which revealed a brown film as well on the wet rag I used to wipe the filter. I then used another wet rag and wiped the bottom of the jacuzzi which revealed even more dirt and hair. This is when I decided to just give up and get some sleep for the night, but upon lying down on the bed I looked up at the ceiling above the head of the bed only to notice a line of cobb webbs extending from one side of the ceiling above the bed to the other side. At this point, the whole experience was almost comical so I went off to sleep and awoke the next day ready for a better experience. I ate a nice breakfast of eggs, biscuits, sausage, cereal, and hot chocolate. Not long after this, I packed and went to check out of the hotel room and informed the desk clerk of the problems I had encountered during the night. She apologized for the bad experience I had at the hotel and credited the entire room bill back to my credit card without so much as a slight prompting by myself. I was pleased with her handling of this situation to say the least. In summary, the other parts of the room were clean and the bed was very comfortable in both rooms, but the jacuzzis did not work or were not clean. The phones were inoperable. The complimentary hot breakfast was good. I noticed that the small pool area looked nice, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I might recommend a new housekeeping force for this facility or a better system for checking behind the maintenance and houskeeping staff, but the service made up for my bad experience with this hotel.
